HDTV + XBOX =
I just got a 30" HDTV & hooked the XBOX up on it. Enabled 720p + 1080i.
Damn.
Amped 2, Tony Hawk 4 look breathtakingly sharp.
I'm normally not a PC gamer (or haven't been in a while), but getting the resolution like this is just awesome.
Those guys at MS, they're really on to something.
The next generation HD-compatibility is a deal breaker on any system for me.

Thanks Joshic.
Here's something funny/stupid: I've had a projector which basically does 1/4 HD resolution, but upscales really well. Weeellll in all the times of using the XBOX on it, I don't believe I had the HD switched turned on. Thereby not having it enabled.
Doh.
Oh well. Looks awesome, I really welcome the next generation when all games will be this resolution.

I hook my GCN up to my 46" widescreen. None of that "which format" garbage-just good ole progressive scan glory with Wavebirds. My Xbox is hooked up to my smaller office TV and so shall remain.

This site is a pretty good resource for HD games.
I picked up Soul Calibur II (Xbox) for my 46" DLP. It looks great in 720p even if it's just 4x3.

Eh. Not worth ordering the component cables for GCN. My component inputs are already filled up. Once I get my Bravo D2 DVD player, I won't have space for anything else.
I hope Nintendo gets it right next time around.

If your GCN is connected w/ component cables the button combo is hold down B when the power is turned on. It asks to display in progressive scan. That's it.
Games like Custom Robo, F-Zero GX, Final Fantasy: CC, Metroid Prime (the reason I bought the HDTV), Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, Soul Calibur, Star Wars: Rebel Strike, Zelda: Windwaker and Viewtiful Joe are all spectacular. Pretty much any first party Nintendo game supports prog. scan and there are tons of others.
Titles that may sway me to go Xbox HD-Halo 2, Doom 3, Half Life 2 and Conker.
I like my purple cube hooked up and hidden out of the way. Wavebirds allow me to stash the GCN and still have an uncluttered entertainment center. I still have no room down there for the Xbox. When I hook the Xbox up temporarily it just sits on the floor.
For arguements sake I will mention this. I also bought component cables for my PS2 (before it died). That was ridiculous. You had to go to the settings menu and alter formats. Problem was, if I had my PS2 hooked to my Sony 46" and then I wanted to take it upstairs to my office, I had to change settings on the current TV. Meaning, if I turned it off at night and the next day took it upstairs without changing the settings back I was up turd creek (and it happened a lot). The Nintendo way of holding a button while powering on is WAY simple compared to the changing format silliness. BTW, the PS2 games still looked like, uh, well, PS2 games.
Thanks for listening.

jediwicz, i've read previous comments where you bring up the same issues. issues that are really quite irrelevant.
you don't like clutter... your entertainment center can't hold an xbox... so? what does that have to do w/ 720p or 1080i? 480p isn't hi def. i'm sorry you find setting the xbox to enable 720p/1080i so cumbersome. i highly recommend staying away from toasters as well.
and gallant was joking about getting the component cables.
and this isn't bashing nintendo; it's bashing stoopid comments.

I wasn't really joking, well I won't be getting it, but if I had an extra set of component inputs I'd maybe order it.
HD is amazing on XBOX tho, it pisses me off more games don't take advantage.
Anyway, I'm going to close this thread.
Peace out
