I just picked up one of these players, and am quite happy with it.
The advantages of this player is that it will play just about anything on just about any format. It plays any of the DVD formats including +/- RW, and all the CD formats as well. I'm yet to throw something in that it couldn't read. It will also play AVI (Divx), MPG's, etc.. I was able to take some old TV episodes and turn them in Divx format and fit 13 episodes on one DVD. The quality is of course not DVD quality when you do it that way - but it's about the same as the VCR tape I am converting from.. and now I have it all on 1 DVD instead of 6½ tapes.
Some of the features of it are weak, such as you only have 8x fast forwarding ability, and the zoom is only 2x (who really uses this?). It also has easily upgradeable firmware and they say they are going to support more formats going forward..
For $70 this is a great player.
Just wanted to pass it along..

DVD Talk Hero
There was a decent thread in International Talk on this player a while back (since it is easily made to be region-free):

I have one and it's pretty decent, but the mpg/avi/divx feature is somewhat hit and miss as to what codecs it will play properly. Good player for the scratch.
