What is the uncut portion of Robocop?
I have read a bunch of reviews on the new robocop set but none has mentioned
what exactly is the uncut footage
I want to know if it's worth it to get the set just so I can get maybe 1 measly min of pointless uncut footage
thanks

I think it's the shot of when ED-209 shoots up the board room. It seems to hold extra long on the guys body as it gets riddled with bullets. The other scene might be as it pans through the locker room and there slight breast shot. Anyway, I'm not sure either....

The uncensored gore footage is far from 'pointless'. It actually only amounts to 30 seconds or so..but boy does it make an impact.
I have never bothered with the R version since!

the longest scene in the unrated version is the overhead shot of Officer Lewis as she weeps over the bloody body of Murphy. The neck spray near the end of the film is also more graphic.

It doesn't really matter whether there's 1 or more minutes cut off - you miss parts of MANY scenes, that's the point.
P.s. Look at the "Commando" versions - there are numerous 'small cuts' (1-2 seconds) but there are MANY of those cuts - in R2 (UK) and R4 releases...

I have the Criterion version and it tells you in the extras what scenes were cut and why.
First the boardroom scene is much more explicit with a scene of ED-209 shredding his victim to pieces while he lies on the model of New Detroit. The explanation on the DVD say that the MPAA thought this was way to violent and wanted it cut but when you cut that extra 30 seconds from the scene it actually intensifies the violence felt by the audience. The original longer version was so over the top it made it kind of funny when the guy says, “Someone call a paramedic!” because obviously this guy needs a body bag not a doctor.
The scene of Murphy being executed is way longer too. Director Paul Verhoeven comments that, “If we are going to resurrect him he has to be convincingly crucified.” The scene was an elaborate setup with mechanical puppets and latex prosthetics. It is much more effective left uncut and gives more sympathy to the main character.
If the MPAA had their way with Robocop it would have been X rated.

Here's a link to one of the pics I uploaded from the Uncut version (Murphy pic)

I don't think I can post/hotlink the images to the Boardroom pics since they really wouldn't be work safe. (I uploaded 3)
