Did you know that they are remaking "The Last Unicorn"?
Stumbled across this on the IMDB:
Seems that Peter S. Beagle is adapting his own book this time.
The cast includes:
Now I loved the animated version of The Last Unicorn as a kid (I still remember having nightmares about the harpie from that movie), but I'm torn on whether to be excited or scared about this live-action version.
The cast had some good names, but I think I'm gonna wait for some more details before I pass judgement.
This film is slated for Christmas 2005.
A unicorn begins a long and difficult journey to find the rest of her kind whom have disapeared off the face of the earth. On her way she earns the help of a hot tempered misfit magician and a stuborn female companion of a forest outlaw. As they face both human and immortal adversaries, the unicorn learns of humanity and what a world without magic would be like.
The cast includes:
- Christopher Lee as King Haggard
- Angela Lansbury as Mommy Fortuna
- Rene Auberjonois as Captain Cully and voice of the Skull (voice)
- Mia Farrow as Molly Grue
- Jonathan Rhys-Meyers as Schmendrick the Wizard (Bend It Like Beckham)

i have the German and American versions of this classic. I loved it as a child and remembered it as an adult. I have absolutely no desire to see this as a live action and think it should remain as it has..pure and unadulterated!

BUMP!
This blurb was included in a newsletter I got from Peter S. Beagle:
This blurb was included in a newsletter I got from Peter S. Beagle:
1) On 3/1/2015 all roadblocks to making a live-action film deal for The Last Unicorn went away.
2) ITV and Avicenna Development Corporation (Peter's intellectual property company) have agreed to put all their respective Last Unicorn rights together into a single unified platform that will be jointly owned and managed — finally reunifying what was split up so horribly by the original film deal in 1978.
3) While that's being done, Connor has the go-ahead to begin Hollywood negotiations on behalf of both companies..
4) Talks with several interested studios and producers are now under way.
And Peter...Peter is bloody thrilled, of course.
More news on this as it breaks!

Only took over a decade. Will probably need to revise the cast list. I would love it if they got someone like Guillermo Del Toro to make this one.
