24 Season 3 worth buying on DVD

I've got Season 1 and 2, liked both. Tried to keep up to date on Season 3, but school schedule interferred, so wasn't able to follow it beyond episode 8 or so.

How did it compare to the other seasons?

And no spoilers please. I've gotten enough spoilers to piss me off (thank you TV Guide, bastards!)

The last 10 hours were awesome....probably up there with season 1, but you'd still have to endure the first half of the season, which, though it had its moments, was pretty unbearable.

IMO, I don't think it's worth buying. Even at its best, 24 really doesn't a ton of replay value (compared to other shows), and I could barely stand to sit through all the Salazar crap once. I suggest Netflixing it, since I suppose it's worth watching just for the last 10 episodes.

I don't really think any of them are worth buying. Don't get me wrong, I love the show, and I loved season three. I'd just rent them though. I've seen every episode, but I really don't have any desire to watch any of them again. But then again, I'm not really into buying TV show seasons...well, except the Simpsons. Just my 2 cents.

Since you've seen season's 1 & 2, you might as well see 3. Though, if I were you, I'd rent it.

I own quite a few TV show sets (incl. the first 2 seasons), and there are lots of series out there that I love to watch over and over (BtVS, Angel, Freaks and Geeks, The Simpsons, etc...), but 24 doesn't really fall into that category for me. I mean, once in a while, I'll have the urge to watch Mia Kirshner
Spoiler:
blowing up a plane or getting naked
, and the season 2 DVDs did have some pretty good extras (the SW/CB/MF commentary & that awesome documentary), but I get a lot more mileage out of my other TV show DVDs than I do from 24. I doubt any amount of extras will entice me to pick up season 3. I may end up Netflixing them just to see the extras.

I enjoyed Seasons 1 and 2, but I was really turned off by season 3, which just seemed to rehash old plotlines and put the characters in the most ridiculous situations as to strain credibility. I think I might give this a rent instead of a purchase, and if I like then maybe I'll pick it up used.

I'll definitely be buying it. I thought the first half of the season was generally good, and the last half was amazing. I have both seasons on DVD, and do rewatch them on occasion (especially right after 24, when I'm so into it I have to put on another episode). Buy it, especially since it'll be less than $50 at most places. Plus, you're gonna need something to do to get you til January without Jack!

I have to disagree with most everyone in this thread. I have watched both season 1 & 2 twice each in the past year. I love it. I will be picking up three. Knowing where season 3 goes, it will be good to see how it started again.

The last few episodes of Season 3 were outstanding. The boring subplots from earlier episodes finally came to fruition, and the episodes became nothing but suspense - no filler.

Probably my favorite 24 Season so far.

It's tough to give others a recommendation, but I generally agree with what has been said. I really enjoyed Seasons 1 and 2 (Season 1 a little more), but Season 3 really dragged at the start. Nonetheless it had a good finish, and I'll pick it up once it comes out

I missed Seasons 1 and 2 when they were televised, but rented both seasons last fall, and now I'm hooked. Will Season 3 be out before Season 4 debuts? I need to catch up by January.

For anyone who cares, you can pick up seasons 1 & 2 for $19.99 each at Coconuts after MIR this week.

^^ No Shit? I already have them, but they would make great gifts at that rock bottom price. I will have to head over there.

It should be out by early September per the last two seasons. In plenty of time to watch before Season 4

I'm not too familar with Coconuts and FYE. I hear both stores have the same deals. Is this true? There is a FYE near me, but not a Coconuts.

Well the coconuts where I live is closing, so I thought, damn, get it on clearance and get the rebate. No go. one or the other.

Anyway, heads up. I bought these as gifts, and to my knowledge and looking at the package, season 2 doesn't have the glued insert with the UPC. You might have to cut the box to get the deal. Season 1 is all good though. No damaging the case.

Check out the FYE threads in DVD Bargains for more details, but yeah, generally they have the same deals (they're both owned by the same company)

Season 3 takes the longest to pick up out of the "days", and IMO there are far too many red herrings early on. But when it does get going, it gets really exciting.
