Gameskin's has this t-shirt for sale, what does it mean?

"Justin Bailey" (followed by all dashes) was a password for the original Metroid that gave you all upgrades, but made Samus not have a space suit on. Contrary to popular belief, Justin Bailey is not a real person.

JUSTIN BAILEY is just one of over thousands of real word passwords that happen to work in the original Metroid, it has NO significance to anything EVER, never did and never will.

Bailey does NOT mean swimsuit in ANY language.

The code was printed in Nintendo Power (I think) years ago and has grown into some stupid myth. Anybody who actually thinks this password is the way to play as Samus without her suit obviously (VERY obviously, I might add) never actually beat the game.

That's just the first few sites that popped up when I Googled "Justin Bailey Metroid" Haven't recently played the game, but all these sites say that it does put her in a swimsuit and a few talk about the Aussie meaning.
That's a lot of people posting passwords and info that have never beaten the game.

Yes I know what happens when you beat the game, but I also guarantee you that the code does in fact let you play without the suit (and with all weapons). Try it.

(There are rumors that the code was removed from the Classic Series re-release. I can neither confirm nor deny this.)

The password works, and the password does enable you to play without the suit. However, I can give you a few thousand passwords that allow you to play without the suit, JUSTIN BAILEY is just one of them, and it holds no significance. The "bailey = swimsuit" thing is a fabrication created by Metroid fans desperate to believe that the JUSTIN BAILEY is not just a random password (which it is).

Which again goes back to the point that "Justin Bailey" wasn't an intentional code; it was just one code out of many that looked like real words.

I was just reading up on Kid Icarus when I saw this thread and found the old password schemes to be pretty interesting.

I think I remember reading that NAR where initials for the guy who did the codes, and then password is obvious. If the Metroid code is similar to the Kid Icarus code, Justin Bailey could easily be a coincidence.

Well, it works because Metroid codes work like Mega Man codes. The some-1 set-up us-the B0MB11 code gives you no suit and you have the Screw Attack, just about full missiles, the Wave Beam, and maybe a couple other things. It also starts you out in a different location.
