question about my sub and reciever...
my wife just bought me a new sub. it's the Sony dual 10" with a 250 watt amp. my question is - my current reciever is a Sony str-de1075 6.1 reciever that seems to not have the punch it used to in the sub out channel. the sub has some bass but not as much as I expected. I hooked it up to my older sony and the sub really kicked in. this thing thumps. I have to turn the subs settings way down or everything in my A/V rack rattles. is it possible for a sub out channel to go bad? I plan on getting a new reciever soon(denon 3805) and am wondering if I will have more control over the sub with that reciever? I really don't want to PO my wife and take back the sub for a different one but I don't want everything to rattle when trying to enjoy a movie either. ideas?

Did you run the test tones after installing the sub? Movie bass is quite different than two channel audio bass.
Does the sub have its own volume control, you did not list a model number?
As for rattling that will depend on the quality of the lfe track. Even though I have a dedicated theater, insulation and a detached sub platform filled with 250 pounds of sand, my house still rattles some when I play LOTR for instance

its a sony sa-wx700. I didn't run test tones. I never listen to music on this system. the sub has its own volume control and fequency cutoff. on my current reciever the sub had to be turned all the way up in order to actually get any bass with it. I have tried a few DVD movies with it and it has no punch to it. with my older reciever the sub only needed to be turned ever so slightly to give it a workout.

Also be sure the sub is correctly connected. It has auto on and off and line level as well as speaker level inputs.

Good luck.
