Keane: 'Hope & Fears' - thoughts?
I have been listening to this album pretty much non-stop and while many could say this is fail safe pop-rock, I really dig it. The band's music recalls Ben Fold's ballads, Suddenly Tammy and Geneva. The band's strength's are the lead singer can actually sing and great memorable melodies. Who else has picked up this album, what do you think?

I like it but I like the earlier versions of the tracks better, Especially this is the last time.
I really don't like the version on the album. Its sounds way too tinny, and to be honest the whole album seems very very overproduced.
They appear to be the new coldplay, advertised as no guitars etc.
This is the last time was released last year sometime, and did nothing and then somewhere only we know hit big, so everything was repackaged and sent back.
Overall I like it, but need to listen to it more, there were just too many cds I bought in the last 2 weeks to concentrate.

These 6 all in the last 2 weeks. And in order I have listened to the most are.
The Charalatans - up at the lake
Alanis Morrisete - So- Called Chaos
Morrissey - You are the Quarry
The Streets - A Grand don't come for Free
Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand
Keane - Hope & Fears.
I guess I know I will like the keane album and listen to it more, so I have left it on the backburner a bit, but based on your post its on my ipod now. I'll get you a link to the earlier versions later.

i think Keane is fantastic, if you're in the mood
the moon-faced boy sings like there's no tomorrow
plus it's only 7 bucks new at some places (national outlets)
the ep and euro tracks are decent.

On a side tangent, I would assume it would be silly of me not to think you are excited about the upcoming new Badly Drawn Boy album: One Plus One Is One coming out in the UK on June 21st. US release: ?

Giles I'll put this up for a bit.
www.bdbfc.com/keane.mp3
And yes of course I am excited about the release of my album, I feel weird discussing it on a public forum
Lest people think I am a shill.
Not sure what the US release date is.

i like it but all the songs sound the same. which isn't horrible, but it gets a bit boring after a while.
i dont see them as the next coldplay at all. coldplay had a lot more "tunes" and made more beautiful music on their first album

We'll bump this one to avoid confusion.
Or merge the 2. So who downloaded the 1st version of
this is the last time, and what do you think of the difference between both tracks?

"This is the Last Time" is the best track on the album IMO.

Also I hate the new Washington DC club trend of starting shows (particularily the headliners at the Black Cat and the 9:30)) so late that one is forced to go home in a taxi, since Metro (subway) are idiots and stop running at midnight. (I don't own a car).
