Clash of the Titans remake..?

Does anyone have any news about this remake? I remembered the news last year that a remake was in development. It was a good movie back then.

thanks in advance,

Didn't know there was one in the works, but I've been wanting one for quite awhile now.

Came in here thinking you had the info since there was no question mark in the thread title. Didn't know a remake was in the pipe line.

I remember this rumor from like 2 years ago that Warner Bros. was trying to remake this. Haven't heard anything since then.

I think it would be cool to see it redone. I watched this again recently, and man some of those special effects are horrible! (Watch the scene where they release the Kraken!)

I wouldn't be surprised if it's being more seriously considered after the success of LotR.

I still have my Harry Hamlin action figure!

Yeah, I've always expected that they would do a remake of this. A CG/mechanical Medusa would kick much ass.

I don't think this needs a remake. The original is great. Sure some of the effects look fake, but that doesn't matter, they still look incredible.

I've been getting back into Harryhausen movies lately. Titans was probably his best film because in addition to the special effects it actually had a good story and decent acting. Most of his other movies are painful to watch in those departments.

What about a "director's cut" with all new effects? I love the original, and would prefer a Lucasizing of this instead of another bad/cheesey/unnecessary remake.

No way - why rape a classic movie? Just remake/reinterpret it.

I loved those type of effects from movies like Jason and the Argonauts, Clash of the Titans, and all the Sinbad movies.

As long as they leave out the chirping owl robot, I have no problem with a remake. The original wasn't very good.

I'd love to see a remake. The original is just too cheesy and the special effects didn't age well at all.

Leave it alone please.

Half the fun of the original is that that the effects were all done by hand. The last thing we need is another $100 million remake using a team of computer artists using $1 million computers with $5000 rendering software.

That movie freaked me out when I was little... I saw it again a few months ago on hbo or cinemax or something, the special effects were hilarious.

The Gorgon was Harry's best effect IMO.

In the tradition of Airplane (Soul Plane) this remake has a great chance to feature a hip hop cast.

Like someone said it simply doesn't stand up to time. If you're a "Nostalgia Whore" then sure, maybe it's great. But I think we've really moved waaaaayy past that kind of sfx.

Why remake Clash of the Titans? It was a hodge-podge of Greek myth wrapped around Ray Harryhausen special effects. If you want to wrap a hodge-podge of Greek myth around modern CGI special effects, go right ahead -- you don't need to use the same story Harryhausen used. Why not instead write the story of Jason going to find the Golden Fleece, and having to deal with the chimera and the Minotaur's maze along the way, or whatever.

Well the stop motion animation is impressive still to this time, the monsters look really menacing. Doesn't anyone watch TCM at all? Or am i the only one?

I'll take stop-motion over computer animated anyday.

And why not instead think up of new stories, and not remakes, yes hollywood, you can use your imagination and make new stories!

Even though I'm not a fan of remakes, I'd love to see this redone. Clash of the Titans was one of my favorite films when I was growing up.
