How many do not take advantage of rebates if you have to ruin the package?

Do you take advantage of a rebate on a DVD even if it means you have to cut out the proof of purchase on either the outer package/ sleeve or the inner booklet?

Personally I don't. I am not going to ruin a package just to get a few bucks back.

Why they don't include a small sheet with proofs of purchases inside is beyond me?

It's not going to increase costs that much.

Maybe they do it so people like me don't do the rebate.

Like with the Return of the King DVD that just came out, the proof of purchases is on the outside artwork. They include advertisements for the Elf DVD, Assorted LOTR merchandise booklet and the movies liner notes. They could have included a little sheet of paper with the Proofs of Purchase on it as well.

Just one of my little pet peeves.

Ive never done it. It would ruin the packaging for what is usually a few $$ or a free dvd of usually a crappy movie.

i used to be really anal about stuff like this but i would rather have 10 bucks than a little square of paper on the back of a DVD case. another DVD or a square of paper, hmm easy choice. you cant take this stuff with you when you die and there isnt a better heaven for people with DVDs with attached UPCs.

yea I am not one to cut up a DVD cover just to get a rebate back. I'll have to photocopy my Alias sets soon, so I can send in for that rebate.

I won't cut up my DVDs for rebates either, but part of the problem is I'm lazy -- I still have to mail in my UPCs from Deep Space 9 Seasons 6 and 7 (no cutting required, as I don't save the paper wrapper on the DS9 sets). I think I have another month or so.

That's what I love about the FYE rebates - you mail in the barcode/price sticker on the wrapper - no cutting of the insert required.

As for whether or not I'd cut an insert, it depends on how much the rebate is for...if its over $5, usually I will, or if its a cheap DVD (like buying three $5 DVDs and sending in POPs for a free 4th one).

I never cut out part of the packaging for a rebate. The only exception I'll make is if it's one of those proof of purchase tabs inside the package that can be torn off like with the WB Friends $10 rebate.

I have no problem cuttin' off the proof of purchase tabs if it's right above the UPC (e.g. Disney/Buena Vista or MGM). However, if it requires cuttin' out the UPC (e.g. Artisan), I won't do it....it's harder to resell if it's missing the UPC and plus it's harder to profile on DVD Profiler.
