Why is the Prime Suspect series so expensive?
Each Prime Suspect film is appx. $25 on Amazon.com; that's with only 18% off of the MSRP. Amazon.co.uk sells a box set of Prime Suspect 1-5 together for $40, which is about $8 per film. Does anyone see that $25 price dropping at any point? Why is the discount only 18%?

I bought the R2 boxset from Amazon.co.uk. It cost about $35 shipped at the time, and contains 7 discs (there were three Prime Suspect 4's for some reason, so the sequence is 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5). Each is confined to one disc, whereas the R1s are 2-disc sets. Anyway, if you have a multiregion player, I recommend the R2 set.

FWIW, I know at least Prime Suspect 1 and 2 were originally released as 1 disc versions. Rereleased as 2 disc versions that I understand are identical except in packaging, just an excuse to price gouge.

If I recall correctly, the original R1 releases were flippers.

yet another reason to stick with the R2 versions.

I buy a lot of British programming and they all tend to run on the expensive side.
The only way i can see the price dropping on this series is if the public loses interest. However, since these are all very well written & acted & stand up to many repeated viewings, I doubt we'll see a decline in viewership or their MSRP.
