Disney Treasures and censorship

For a change I think Disney deserves applause here. Though I take it it’s a lot more of Roy’s doing that anyone else. Despite Disney’s horrid history of desecrating DVDs (and in some cases lying about it), and despite 3 out of 4 tins from wave 1 being censored in some form, these latest tins amazingly came over 100% intact!! Hell, even that black caricature from “The Autograph Hound” managed to make it through.

With Roy not around, who knows if the “bad” Mickey B&W stuff will make it on DVD at all, much less make it intact. I fear Eisner will stain that DVD with his filthy paws So enjoy all these uncensored cartoons!!

No DVD has ever been censored. Only the government can censor. If you mean expurgated or edited, then say so, but do not continue to misuse the word censorship.

from http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=Censors

A person authorized to examine books, films, or other material and to remove or suppress what is considered morally, politically, or otherwise objectionable.
Then you better email dictionary.com and tell them to correct their definition to a government person

You are unhealthily obsessed with "censorship."

Where do you even get this idea??

On second thought, please don't answer that... I know the 'answer' will only make my head hurt.

I agree, our Class is in a class all his own. However, this thread is proof that he does give credit where credit is due.

None of the Treasures were edited for content for DVD. The edits resulted either from legal problems or from alternate versions from theatrical re-issues.

For some strange reason, I always seem to feel a headache coming on whenever I open a thread that mentions "censorship". Odd, I wonder why?

I suppose inserting a "don't try this at home" is also a "legal" problem.

Hahaha, yeah, funny how the "legal problems" caused the objectionable content to be removed...

Glad to hear these weren't edited, I'm going to pick them up now, even though I've skipped the others in the past.
