Penn & Teller Bull****: Fountain of Youth, 5-20-04

Showtime, 9:00pm CDT:
The good news: we're living longer. The bad news: the older we get, the more we're made to feel that there's something wrong with that, and so we make futile efforts to turn back the clock. From nutty diets to expensive facial creams that don't do anything. And if you're over 40, you're probably lining up for your Botox injections or extensive plastic surgery. But beware all of the "medical" claims to extend your life 'cause they're mostly bullshit. Here's the bottom line. Wrinkles are inevitable. Get used to it.
Could be a decent show. The woman who has her makeup tattooed on seems pretty weird. I, of course, am growing old gracefully.

Next week: Nothing (no, not a show about Seinfeld). As announced before the season began, the boys are taking a break during the second season. There will be six more episodes starting sometime in August.

Off til August? That sucks considering that my television schedule really opens up after this week.

I'm looking forward to it. I could use some Penn & Teller humor after a relatively dramatic week.

yeah you would think now is a good time to pick up subscribers when there's nothing on tv but reruns and summer replacement shows.

I thought the show was fairly entertaining and mildly amusing. I was quite pleased to see P&T distinguishing between people who did things that seemed, well, sort of nuts like pseudoBarbie and pseudoKen and people who make all sorts of outrageous claims like the chelation therapy guy and are more or less defrauding others. The former should be able to do what they want as they are not violating anyone's rights; the latter are far more problematic.

Pretty tame, and so was last weeks. But I think that when you take on things that most people already see as Bullshit, you don't have much potential for a really good show, like the recycling orglobal warming.

But always enjoyable.
