ST: Voyager Episodes out of sequence...

I bought Voyager yesterday and noticed that episodes 117, 118, 120 and 121 are on disc 1 and 119 is on disc 2. Is this some strange anomaly or what?

Those are production numbers. Same thing occurred for the TNG and DS9 series. The first season of TNG was especially erratic like that. There were episode numbers all over the place. However airing order was preserved on the discs.

What it is is that the production numbers are assigned to the order of the scripts that they create, however, the studio may not film those episodes in that same order. This is also due to the time in post-production.

Thank you for the information.

I was worried that a serious error was made. I truly love Star Trek and look forward to each release, never thinking "trouble" might rear its head. I guess I just didn't notice this on the TNG discs.

Not only that, but one of the reasons the first season is so short is that they held back 4 episodes till season 2. They didn't even bother redubbing the stardates, so they seem to go backwards in time at some points!
There were also a few S2 eps, held over for S3, but I think they stopped doing that eventually.

If the price alone hadn't convinced me not to bother with these, then them not reordering these as they should have put the last nail in the coffin. If I find these for like $20 a season used down the road, I might consider picking them up because there were some doozies amongst the riff raff.
