Top Gun CE Coming Nov.16

Paramount has announced according to DavisDVD.com that the Top Gun CE is coming Nov.16 2004 but no further details have been given.

Anyone excited?

I have never seen this movie. Is this a cheezy movie?

Worth buying on DVD?

Glad I held off from buying the current release. This is one of my favorite movies. The ahh, plaque for alternates is down in the ladies room.

It's very 80s and cheesy as hell but it's still fun to watch. Even more fun if you see it as one of the most inadvertantly homoerotic films ever made.

Homoerotic? That's a new one for me. Oh don't get me wrong, because I might agree with you.

I suppose there is Iron Eagle for those who are homophobes.

Lol, yep we discussed this very thing in my film class several yrs back.

A few things to consider - director Tony Scott had only done a lesbian-vampire movie before top gun. The way the camera 'looks' at the males (locker rooms, volleyball, etc..) The way the camera films the planes (noses coming into the frames) Countless "i got him, I'm right behind him!" phrases during the dogfights. Cruise's "i'm glad we got that straight" line (spoken to mcgillis who is wearing a hat) Cruise's smile as Edwards reminds him it must be a woman this time (when they're in the bar), etc...

Who knows if any of those things were intentional or not, but it does make for a very funny way to look at the film. I'm definately picking it up!

Been holding out for a good version of this good movie for years. This is a movie made for DTS but probably will only be a regular 5.1 with my luck.

And Patriot Games

AND Clear and Present Danger...

I'm betting this will have one as well. Just a hunch.
