ugh...the next disney theme park ride-inspired movie

how many more rides can they milk?

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Hot on the heels of the success of "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl," another Disneyland ride, "Jungle Cruise," is being turned into an action-adventure feature.

On Jungle Cruise, riders travel the rivers of the jungle guided by a riverboat skipper, encountering wild animals along the way. The first version of the Jungle Cruise ride was based on Walt Disney's True Life Adventure Series.

The period piece will be developed in the vein of Disney adventure films of the past. "It's completely inspired by and relates to the ride and will contain elements of the ride in the story," said David Hoberman, who will produce the feature.

While "Pirates of the Caribbean" was a worldwide smash, Disney also turned its Haunted Mansion and Country Bear attractions into films, to less spectacular effect.

It may turn out well, it may not. It seems too early to say.

At the rate they're going with these ride-based movies, it won't be long until Disney releases a blockbuster film starring Tom Hanks as the man with all the answers in Information Kiosk.

If they have the dude in the tree, with a rhino trying to stick him up the butt with his horn, I'm there!

I have no problem with making movies based on rides. They do the reverse, so what's the big deal. I do however have a problem with ruining the potential by starring the mediocrity known as Eddie Murphy.

I really think that Indiana Jones adventure and Star Tours ride would make for a good movie. Perhaps they should pick up the ball and roll with those.

That is seriously the greatest ****ing idea I've heard for a film all week. The possibilites are endless with that idea! I SAY YOU PUMP OUT THE SCREENPLAY ASAP!

But for me, I'm still waiting for a movie based off the Peter Pan ride.

Seriously, Disney needs to give us a 2 hour movie based on the "Small World" ride....then all those who have never been on the ride will expereience the trama that is never forgetting that damn song.

If they approach it correctly, they could have a wildly entertaining movie. The only problem is that the Jungle Cruise took you through different jungles of the world, and I don't see how they could pull that off with the movie.

Furthermore, some of the animatronic animals on the ride look really dated by today's standards. While impressive to a kid, they don't look too hot to an adult, especially in todays advanced age.

C'mon, it's not like they have a formula to make a good ride movie, Pirates would've been crap if Depp and Rush didn't ham it up to Virginia and back.

Bring it on! Geez, I'm glad I can still enjoy movies.

I loved "Pirates" and I liked "Mansion" so the next one should be fun too.

"Pirates" was great. "Haunted Mansion" was pure crap. Didn't see "The Country Bears" (who did?) I guess that "Carrousel of Progress" can't be too far behind.

Wasn't the Matterhorn inspired by a movie from the 50's? Sort of the other way around?
