Favorite/Best National Lampoon's Vacation Film?

This debate was mentioned on the talk board, and caused a disagreement between my wife and I, so I am here asking your opinions on this debate.

I argued that aside from the original Christmas Vacation is everyone's favorite and their best sequal.

Of the four, I would think the ranking would be the original, Christmas, Vegas, and last but most certainly least, European.

Personally, I like Vegas Vacation the most, but I am a Vegas guy, so I am biased.

So, please, indulge me. What is your favorite, if you have one?

Edited to Add: I just noticed that I accidentally put Christmas Vacation before European in the order of the poll. If anyone cares, Euro was the second one made, and Christmas was the third.

In a related poll, we should vote on the Best Tasting Feces: Horse, Cow, Goat, or Human. Chevy Chase is not funny and never has been, even on the first season of SNL.

Ouch! That's a little harsh. I will admit that his humor is not loved by all, but to call him not funny is a bit much. If that were true, I don't think studios would havew made a 4 film franchise. Maybe its just me.

His Fletch persona is another favorite of mine, but is a completely different form of comedy, obviously.

My opinion is atypical, but I went with (from Best to Worst):

European Vacation - Very close here, but this one never fails to crack me up.

Vacation - Still hilarious stuff, set the blueprint.

Vegas Vacation - Flatter than European & the original, and a lot of jokes miss. But it still has its moments, and it feels like a Vacation film.

Christmas Vacation - It's got the Griswalds, and it's called Vacation, but this is NOT a Vacation film. It feels more like the other John Hughes stuff of the era: Home Alone or Uncle Buck, than the other films in the series. For some this may be a blessing, but I simply think it's "okay".

Wow, DRG, very atypical. Euro # 1 for you, that is surprising, but I understand your reasoning. The John Hughes aspect is indeed true.

The thing about Euro that bothered me the most is the kids. Audry and Rusty in this one just seemed truly sub-par, although Chase and D'Angelo were definately right on the mark.

I'm with Rivero. The first one also had the best kids: Anthony Michael Hall and Dana Barrons. I met Dana last year at the Comic-Con and she was really really nice. We talked a lot about the first movie and how she was supposed to be in the second one.

This is how we all remember our Audrey

This was taken last summer at the Con.

I saw her in that horrid Made for TV movie Cousin Eddie's Thanksgiving or something like that last year, and she looked a LOT better then she does in the second photo.

I agree that the kids were great in the first one. From what I remember from the featurettes, Dana would have been in Euro except that AMH was busy filming Wierd Science.

Both are/were very funny and talented actors, no question.

The magic of Hollywood makeup

Unfortunately, she was talking about the Cousin Eddie thing and I sorta felt sad for her. She was happy about being Audrey again but it just seemed way late in her career to go back. But a girl's gotta pay rent...

I actually thought Fletch and Funny Farm were funny, along with Vacation and Xmas Vacation. So, usually Chase is unfunny, but there are exceptions to the rule. Mostly he's just an A**hole.
