Best Doctor Movies?

I have a friend graduating medical school this weekend. It got me thinking about the best movies where a main theme is medicine or medical doctors. Here are some I came up with after a few minutes. Some are obviously better than others. To tie this into a bargain, Borders has 20% of all titles for healthcare workers this weekend (at least in Pittsburgh).

Red Beard - Kurasawa
Gross Anatomy
Analyze This
The doctor
Malice

If you want a good, serious-minded movie about doctors, then I do not believe there is any better than the 1991 film THE DOCTOR with William Hurt. Some excellent observations about human nature in general and the profession in particular, with great performances.

Does The Andromeda Strain count? And also, Shohei Imamura's Dr Akagi.

Oh, and I nearly forgot Dead Ringers...

I've recommended Awakenings to my students; it's not primarily a physician's story, but it deals with a medical subject in a very real and touching way.

Got anime?

Try out the Blackjack OVA/series. I thought it was ok, but it's the only title that comes to mind that a) deals primarily with a physician/surgeon and his constant dilemmas in medical decision-making, and b) is not hentai!
