Terry Gilliam will next direct Tideland, which starts shooting September 7 in Saskatchewan, Canada, once the director has finished his current film, The Brothers Grimm.
Variety says the film, written by Gilliam and Tony Grisoni, is adapted from Mitch Cullin's novel about a girl in rural Texas who escapes from the grim reality of her life into a world of fantasy.
She is accompanied on her adventures of the imagination by four disembodied dolls' heads, which will be voiced by well-known actors.

Excellent News! I'm anxious to see who the cast will be...and I can't wait to see Brothers Grimm, Gilliam is one of my favorite directors around these days.

As great as this news is, I'm taking it with a pinch of salt. He has been attached to so many films. Good Omens, Scaramouche and even Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy at one point. And then there is the Don Quixote disaster.
I want another new movie by Gilliam as much or more than anyone else, just don't wanna get my hopes up.
Til then, I'm happily looking forward to Brothers Grimm.

I watched the Lost in La Mancha documentary just the other day. It was pretty hard to see his movie which he waited 10 years to make fall apart while they were shooting. It doesn't seem like he'll ever finish it, but perhaps one day he might get an another chance.

If it involves someone escaping into a world of fantasy and the director is Gilliam, you know it will probably go overbudget.
That said, I love his work and wish he would make more movies; his tendency to blow boatloads of money always hinders his image to Hollywood though.

I cannot believe how great this film is after reading how godawful it is from almost every critic at Rotten Tomatoes.
This thing is even creepier than the original 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre.' And that's a good thing, sez me. I was expecting to just endure it, but ended up enjoying it immensely. Didn't get boring for even a minute (and Richard Roeper wanted to walk out?!?) and just got weirder and weirder.
Lotsa fun. Sure hope it gets to be a Criterion DVD.
