Frankenstein(1931) ending......?
I have seen some debate on other forums over the theory of the ending be reshot, not in the original release etc etc. Their claims are because it is obvious Henry Fraknenstein dies when being tossed from the windmill, while the person seen in bed at the very end appears to be a different actor to give it a 'happy' ending.
I just watched the film tonight on dvd and noticed that after he falls from the windmill, you do see him move briefly, singnaling that he is still alive though injured. So hardly doubtful he died in my opinion.
Yet the final scene,it does appear like different people playing Henry & Elizabeth in the background.
So does anyone know what is up with the ending? It could just be the angle of the actors where you can't get a good look at them. But to the untrained eye,it does appear to be stand ins.

This is adressed in the commentary on the DVD. The end scene was in the original release, but was added at the last minute, and shot with different actors. Originally Dr. Frankenstein was to die at the end.
