All-time greatest 3-album streak by an artist?
It seems almost impossible these days for a group or artist to release three great albums back-to-back-to-back, so I was wondering what you think is the greatest three-album streak ever. I think you gotta go with the Beatles "Rubber Soul-Revolver-Sgt. Pepper's", but you could argue "Revolver-Sgt. Pepper's-White Album" excluding "Magical Mystery Tour", which was sorta a Capitol Records album creation. My second place streak would be Pink Floyd "Dark Side-Wish you Were Here-Animals", and third Led Zeppelin "IV-Houses of the Holy-Physical Graffiti". Anyone else want to jump in?

I won't go as far as to say the ALL time greatest, since that's pretty subjective, but just going from memory while at work, here's what I can think of for personal favorites.
6 (studio) Albums in a Row:
Iron Maiden
1. S/T
2. Killers
3. Number of the Beast
4. Piece of Mind
5. Powerslave
6. Somewhere in Time
4 Albums in a Row:
Metallica
1.Kill Em' All
2. Ride the Lightning
3. Master of Puppets
4. Justice for All
Can't think of any 3 album combinations...
2 Albums in a Row:
Slayer
1. REIGN IN BLOOD
2. South of Heaven

I totally agree you can extend the 3-album streak longer on many great artists. Personally I think the Beatles streak could stretch to 6 ("Help" to "White Album"), the Floyd to 6 ("Meddle" to "Final Cut"), Zeppelin, Stones, Kinks, etc. all longer. But I guess what I was asking from you guys is what do you consider the greatest, most perfect one-two-three punch in rock history (in your own personal opinion). I can think of many others, from Elvis Costello's "My Aim is True-This Year's Model-Armed Forces" to King Crimson's "Lark's Tongue-Starless-Red", Genesis "Foxtrot-Selling England-Lamb", Springsteen "Born to Run-Darkness-The River", several streaks by Rush, etc.

I disagree. Mixed Up - Wild Mood Swing - Bloodflowers? I can't really consider any 3 albums to be a succesful streak, though their 80s work would certainly fit.

Ministry - Land of Rape & Honey - Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste- Psalm 69
Pixies - Pretty much 100% or 5 (or 5-1/2-6 depending on what you include) in a row.
Beastie Boys - 5 in a row

</small>Many also say that Black Sabbath's first six are all highly listenable before their "blip" with "Technical Ecstasy" and "Never Say Die". But maybe you have to be a fan
