GBA Cart memory failure?
I have a copy of Tactics Ogre that no longer lets you save your progress on it. I hadn't played it in a while and thought it wierd that there was no save info but just started over (had forgotten the storyline anyway). The start of the game was long and so I saved right after than into the 1st slot. The save info was not there when I restarted my GBA.
My question is: Can memory in GBA cartridges go bad?
I guess I will try selling this game to some place like GameSpot or something since I was less of a fan of it after playing Golden Sun and Zelda.

It's possible. Battery can die but it's ULTRA rare, espically for a new game. (It's pretty damn rare even for NES games batteries to be dead..).
You *could* change the battery yourself.. but I'm looking at a GBA cart now and it's got some new kind of screw on it..
Also, I think I heard some newer GBA games may be using a cheaper flash memory to save scores/data but I think it was intended for small data (not like an RPG).. could be wrong onthat.. but I think that's what the Famicom Mini games are using.

The color and feel of the cartridge. Compare it to your other GBA games. Is the color of plastic the same? What about the texture? I spor numerous bootlegs at my work when people try trading them in. Some are just way to obvious.

So if it is a bootleg (and I'm pretty sure it is now), can I just take apart say Eye of the Beholder and use the battery from that in the Tactics Ogre cart?
