Band Of Brothers - Region 3 vs. Region 1 ?'s
Well, I have not seen the series (gonna catch it on History channel this week) and been thinking of picking it up if i end up liking it (yes... i will .. i know it... )
Only thing is I would like to get the Military gift set that is offered on koreandvds but the big this is that it lacks a DTS track. Seems a little weird but.. whatever.
I am just wondering if anyone has this set or just the region 1 and could help compare the DTS track to the DD 5.1 that would be included on the region 3 set. Is the DTS a full-bit track and is the audio that much clearer like some other DTS tracks?
Would have been nice to have the DTS also included on this Region 3 set, but if there is not a big difference in clarity i will get the region 3 with all the extra toys..

Its funny how people want their DTS tracks, and yet this Korean release seems so popular when it loses the DTS! Its a nice set, no question, although HBO's tin is no slouch, either.
The one thing I loved about the R1 was the Field Guide, which was on every disc. This was a great way of keeping track of who everyone was. I had trouble doing so on the show's original HBO run. When I saw the series a second time on disc, using the Field Guide to keep tabs on everyone, I enjoyed it much more.
I'm not sure if this feature made it to R3. Doubtless some reader of this thread can tell you.

Oh yea, the tin set is nice , but sometimes having the interesting extras is a plus. The interactive field guide is another question i had too on the region 3. Dvdcompare does not say anything about it if it is lacking or is included (does not have verifcation).

I couldn't imagine listening to it in anything other than DTS. Oh wait, I did, until recently when I upgraded my home theatre. Now, after comparing the two (with my new setup), the DTS track is many times better than the DD 5.1 mix.

Hi, MuteClown.
The Field Guide was a guide to all the characters, places, battles etc.
It was not an item which came with the discs, but was actually an interactive guide on the discs themselves. If the Korean set kept the Field Guide, I have no idea if they just presented it as is, in english, or translated the notes.

Its funny how when its a non-R1 dvd that doesn't have the DTS, everyone is cool with that. But if the R1 didn't have DTS, people here would be bombing Bestbuys in protest to the Dolby Digital outrage.
