Paramount is doing a lot of remakes
I just happened to notice with Stepford Wives, Manchurian Canidate, Hitchcock's Too Catch A Thief, Cinderfella, Alfie, The Longest Yard, and another Pet Semetary which isn't even that old. I guess they are running out of ideas.

I have some original, mainstream, marketable ideas and scripts that I wrote. Think they want to buy them from me? Doubt it.
I don't really have any problems with remakes or readaptions. Maybe Pet Semetary will be good this time around.

The Paramount chief (I forget her name) was on 'Sunday Morning Shootout' recently and was talking about the studio's philosophy. They've stopped going for maketshare (since it means little) and concentrating on profitability.
So, to them, from a business point of view, remakes are probably more cost-efficient and they can better predict how it will be recieved.
I personally don't like this philosophy, but if they want to run the studio like a pure business its their choice.
