Is the Pink Panther Box Set a good blind buy?
I think the title speaks for itself. I enjoyed these movies in my childhood. But its been so long. Do the films still hold up today? Funny? How are the extras? Opinions welcomed.

IMHO, the only film that still stands up today is A Shot in the Dark, which I consider to be one of the finest comedies ever made.
The other films have some very funny sequences, but you have to sit through a lot of crap to get to them.

Reviewed each one available in the collection as well as the set's extras (not that great) here, if you're interested - http://filmfreakcentral.net/dvdrevie...collection.htm

I enjoy the original, Shot in the Dark, and Revenge, which isn't in the set. The others never did it for me. Like the previous poster said, they have their moments, but mostly they just suck.

I don't have the DVDs yet and can't judge the quality, but the movies themselves, in my opinion, are classics. They still to this date crack me up very much. In that way, they are definitely a good blind buy.

All films have their moments. Revenge does have an absolutely great bit where a hitman tries to whack Clouseau in the middle of one of his fights with Kato. But the rest is mediocre. Edwards was like that a lot - many of his bad films have moments of sheer comedic brilliance.
A Shot in the Dark and Strikes Again both hold up very well. The rest, except for Trail, are watchable. Return was just okay. My order of preference: Strikes Again, Shot in the Dark, original, Return, Revenge, Trail.
