What's the better remake? DotD or TCM
Just curious how this will turn out. I saw DotD but haven't seen the TCM remake. Depending on how this poll turns out will determine the outcome of whether or not I buy the TCM DVD.

Oh my Christ are you serious? TCM sucked the balls of everyone who has ever used a chainsaw, saw a movie, or worn human flesh as a mask. Dawn of the Dead was an awesome movie.

Ok, I don't understand the hatred of TCM. I thought it was a good, dark, miserable horror movie...noisy, violent, atmosperhic, bad tempered, and Jessica Biel looks hot wet. Good stuff in my opinion. But I never loved the original, so I guess that helped.
Now DoTD, better than above...but I'll take zombies over slasher flicks anyday. Solid stuff. But the original Dawn tops all these flicks, imo.

The TCM remake was (IMO) better than the original and DotD remake was also better than the original... the new DotD is better than the new TCM as the original DotD was better than the original TCM. I didn't think the new TCM was all that bad - but it wasn't anything special... I thought Wrong Turn and that Rob Zombie movie were both better. Ok - to clear this up regarding my opinion... here's the ranking...
1. Dawn of the Dead 2004 8.5/10
2. Wrong Turn 7/10
3. Rob Zombie movie (can't think of the name) 6.5/10
4. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 6/10
5. Dawn of the Dead - original 6/10
6. Texas Chainsaw Massacre - original 5.5/10
7. Cutthroat Island & Wing Commander -10/10
I'd also probably put TCM 2 and 3 above Wrong Turn or at least above the Rob Zombie film. I guess I just thought the original TCM wasn't all that hot. Also, I suppose it's a tough call between the original DotD and the new TCM. not that anyone asked.

I thought the TCM remake was good, better than the original (not a big fan of the original anyhow), but the Dawn of the Dead remake was by far a superior movie.

DotD '04 > TCM '04
I have a hard time comparing the new and old DotD. The new one has zombies and a mall, but not much more in comparison with the original. The cameos and references to the original were great, but I really think it shouldn't have been called a remake. More like "Americanized '28 Days Later' in a Mall" Ok, maybe not that, but it's more fitting IMO than what they did, which is basically just using the name recognition of Dawn of the Dead to sell a fairly different movie. I know this was supposed to be a "re-envisioning" ( hate that term...reeks of unoriginality) but they changed it up a little too much to still use the same name.

DoTD's remake is basically Dawn Of The Dead for the MTV ROAD RULES generation. Take out the backstory, take out the character development, and put in plot holes you could drive a truck through....then fill all that space with "Action!". *groan*
Problem is the movie has been so dumbed-down that you can't really compare it to the original. Its a remake literally in name-only. 28 Days Later is a better 'remake' of Dawn than this version of Dawn is.
In this new dawn nothing is explained, things happen simply for the sake of happening so the director can work us into another action scene.....there is even an A-Team/MacGyver scene towards the end where all of these "people hiding out in a mall" suddenly become engineers and welders. :P
I damn near shouted "WHERES MR. T!?!?! WHERES HANNIBAL!?"
On the other hand, the zombies were cool, the CGI was ok, and for a "horror" movie on teh big screen there was plenty of gore, more gore than I'd seen in a LONG long time onscreen.
Problem is, this Dawn is an action movie, not a horror movie.
The original Dawn, Day, and even Savini's remake of Night Of...all left you (the viewer) with a feeling of dread and "lurking terror"....this movie is really just an action flick in horror movie disguise. having said that, it wasn't wasted money....ala House of 1000 Corpses. <SHUDDER>

Perhaps a better poll question would be what's better - the new DOTD or 28 Days Later. For me, it was DOTD...28 Days Later was a real bore for me (aside from a great opening 15 minutes or so).

I saw DotD yesterday and with about 20-30 minutes left I just got really bored and wanted it to end. Now if people are saying a movie I got tired of is better, maybe I shouldn't get TCM.

Are you serious? Dawn of the Dead '04 was good, but not as good as the original. TCM '03 was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. So, Dawn wins this poll easily.

Tied. Equally good, considering they're remakes of timeless classics.
I also thought Wrong Turn and House of 1000 Corpses were within the top 5-7 of last years horror movies. But I can't and won't compare those to these.
