I need help identifying a giant spider movie

My son and I just saw a show on Discovery talking about spiders and it showed clips from a old black and white giant spider movie, obviously made in the fifties. It appeared to be attacking a city and showed a close up of a woman screaming as the spider got closer.

I remember seeing this flick as a kid but cannot remember the name of it. My son has gotten into watching older monster movies (we can't wait for the Universal Monsters DVD gift pack coming out soon) and I wanted to try to find it.

Does anyone know the name of this flick, I couldn't pin it down on IMDB.

TIA

It was probably "Tarantula". (with a bit part by Clint Eastwood)

It's probably either TARANTULA (1955) or Bert I. Gordon's immortal EARTH VS. THE SPIDER (1958).

Thanks, guys. I'm pretty sure it's Tarantula. Unfortunately, there is no DVD yet.

That's what popped into my head too, Donnachaone. Tarantula is a classic though.
