i think that there wouldn't be as much radio airplay and promotion if the lead singer was male. they certinly wouldn't have won the "best new artist" catagory at the Grammys. and most critics would have said that the song "my immortal" was cheesy if this was a male singer.

I consider them closer to prog than nu-metal and in that regard with a male soprano vocalist they would have never made the airwaves. There are a lot of great bands out there with soprano type vocals but if the vocalist isn't grumbling into the mic they don't even consider it for airplay.

make sense?

I can't vote twice, so I just voted for No, they would just be another nu metal band. I still think they suck though.

Depends on who the singer would be.

It also helps that she's pretty.

If she had the same voice, but was a fat, ugly slob - they may have never even gotten signed to a recording deal.

It's an integral part of their sound, I'd say. I doubt I'd be a fan of Velocity Girl, that dog., Tuscadero, or the Rondelles if they had a male singer, for instance.

It's definitely about her voice. They would be nothing without it.

I would be a bigger fan of Velocity Girl if she would have let Archie sing more. I really like his voice, not that hers is bad at all. I am a big fan of them nonetheless.

As far as Evanesance goes, I can't stand them, but I really dont think they would be as big as they are if it was a male singer. Her vocal style is probably the only thing keeping them "unique" in that style of music.
