Need recommendation on receiver for B&W 700 series speakers

Hi,

I am planning to get a set of home theater system, but I am very new to this kind of stuff. So, I need some helps from you guys.

I am planning to get the following B&W speakers:
Front: 704 $2200/pair
Sursound: DS7 $1500/pair
Center: HTM7 $750 each
Sub: ASW700 $1300 each

The salesperson at recommended me to get the Rotel RSX1056 receiver $1300.

Here are my questions:

1. Is the Rotel RSX1056 a good receiver? Or I can get something better for that price? Such as Yamaha?

2. This store offered me 10% off pretty much every thing I listed above, and another 3% off if I pay by cash. Is this a good price? Or can someone recommend a cheaper place in tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT, or even PA).

Thanks

The Rotel is a good choice. Just so you are aware, Rotel is owned by B&W.

The Yamaha is also a good choice, I use a Yamaha RX-V1to run my theater and I am using B&W CWM inwall speakers.

I would compare specs depending on your room size to see which unit is a better fit for you. I also have been impressed with the new Yamaha RXV 2400.

As for price, B&W and Yamaha has no online presence for their better products unless of course they are grey market. the discount is not bad but they probably can do a little better.

Good luck.

Rotel has a reputation for being very high quality not only in construction but in sound as well.

Also, both B&W and Rotel are rarely discounted. Even when sold in packages. If the shop you are looking at has all this stuff, and you are serious about purchasing, I would ask them to set up the system for you in their shop. See how you like it there. True, it will sound different then in your home, but will give you some idea vs. other things in the store. If you are planning on spending that kind of $$ I wouldn't think they would have a problem with it. Then if you like it, I can't think of a reason not to buy. Especially if they are giving you discounts on products like these.
