Why no Sean Ashton at Oscars? Golden Globe fall out

Why no S.A> at the Oscars.

Seems strange to miss the big award show after going to the Globes. Was that some sorta "fall out" because of getting bumped during his GLobes speach?

Forget S.A.; he wasn't even nominated for anything. The bigger question is where the hell was Sean Penn?!!!?!

I'll tell ya who was a no-show: Viggo Mortenson. The biggest movie of his sketchy career wins 11 oscars and he can't even show up.

(I realize he was probably doing publicity for Hidalgo, but c'mon.)

I think Mortensen would have been there if he could, he is pretty reverential to PJ, the LOTR films and his fellow cast members. Not to mention that it seems like he believes he really is Aragorn. They say he had a little trouble seperating himself from the part.

He was at the oscars.. But for you folks in Los Angeles. He will be at the Shrine Comic convention this weekend..

http://www.comicbookscifi.com/

SEAN ASTIN starred as "SAMWISE GAMGEE" in all three THE LORD OF THE RINGS films, and received great critical acclaim for his performance. It is "SAMWISE GAMGEE" and "FRODO" who make the trip to MOUNT DOOM to destroy the ring.

SEAN can currently be seen in the ADAM SANDLER comedy 50 FIRST DATES. SEAN does not make many personal appearances, so this is a rare opportunity to ask him questions about his experience working on THE LORD OF THE RINGS films.

SEAN will be signing autographs from 12:50 P.M.-3:00 P.M. There is a charge for an autograph*. A selection of photos will also be available to purchase. Check the TICKET INFORMATION page for more details.

*"There is a charge of $25.00 for each autograph. There will be a variety of photos to choose from for Sean to sign at a cost of $5.00, or you can bring your own item"

Not only do you have to pay the lame price at the door of 7.50 or 15.00... But then you have to pay an extra 25.00 for an autograph on your own stuff

The "publicity" thing is a cop-out...who does publicity for a movie on a Sunday evening? On Oscar Night???!!! I think Viggo was more upset about his pay from the three movies...both he and Orlando balked at doing voice-overs for the video game because they didn't feel they were getting enough money...and who are the two who didn't show up at the Oscars? Yep - Viggo and Orlando!

At least Orlando had the excuse of being part of a movie shoot...

I remember reading somewhere that John Rhys-Davies didn't show up because he couldn't get a ticket, even though he was a member of the Academy. I think the Academy wanted the 4 hobbits, McKellen, and of course Peter Jackson & Co.

Now granted, Viggo's role was meatier than John's in the trilogy, but still, perhaps this is also what happened with Viggo. The same could be said for Orlando Bloom as well, as I don't *think* he was at the Oscars, either, and he was part of two films that had nominations (ROTK and PotC).

And to think I didn't even know he was in the movie, let alone that Mels' movie was nominated...

Really? I thought he was just disappointed and the fans were the ones that were pissed. I had no idea that Peter Jackson got on Christopher Lee's bad side. Too bad since Peter Jackson seems to worship the guy.

I thought that was also a fan piss off aswell. From what I recall lee was disappointed, but not pissed at jackson.

Also, andy was there. Just because you didn't see them in seats on camera or anything of the such does not mean that they weren't there. No need for the whole cast to go up there.
