Best Buy Gamer's Gift Card Disappearing?

I went in to my BB today in Birmingham, AL to pick up The Hulk for Xbox. I went to grab a Gamer's Gift card to use the $5 coupon...you all know the drill. Anyway, I couldn't find one anywhere. So, I asked two of the guys to pull me one and they both told me that corporate told them to send them all back. They told me that they may have them back again next Christmas, but they weren't sure. WTF!!

Has anyone else noticed them disappearing?

Those coupons are the only bright spot of shopping at BB. I hope they don't go away forever.

Didn't we have someone saying a Best Buy employee said they were sending them all back a few months ago?

I may head to Best Buy today or tomorrow, and I'll see how my Gamer card section looks. It's usually filled to the top with cards. They even had some at the register for anyone that forgot to use them last time I was there.

This is why I've been telling you all to keep at least 20 on hand for the last 18 months.

BTW, I was at my 3 local BBs today and there were hundreds of them in all the usual areas.

Speaking of these, has anyone used the old ones this year to get a sub$5 item for free?

Didn't somebody claim this a few months ago? But ended up being false. The one guys store was just low and needed restocking?

Geez, people, don't scare me! My local store had tons of copies. Lots of the old green ones too, FWIW. I still picked up a half-dozen for safe keeping, though.

Yes...and this is getting ridiculous!!! Who in the hell would listen to anything a BB employee tells them? They barely know the name on their id badge let alone anything about what is actually going on with the store or the products within the store.

Well, last week in one of my 2 Best Buys, I saw a few of the gamers gift cards, not nearly as many as they usually had. Two days I go, I went back to pick something up, and there werent any to be found, anywhere. I know there werent that many to begin with, but I really doubt that many sold in less than a week. Maybe they are being sent back or something :'(

I have a lot of old gift cards with anywhere between $0.75 and $5 on each. I tried to combine them onto a new gift card. They told me they couldn't do it, that the computer would reject a gift card as payment for another gift card...

I've also been told that the system won't allow that. It always comes into play when they have one of their many promotions that give you a 'free' gift card with purchase (it takes the $x off the product and makes you pay $x for the gift card).

There seemed to be plenty of GGCs at the Tulsa store. However, they have been known to not read recall messsages before (Ed Wood).

I picked up four gift cards just in case even though I don't believe they'll be disappearing. Surely Best Buy knows people are just buying them to abuse them and use the coupon for themselves, but its driving business to them or hurting Circuit City so it can't be that bad.

Ed Wood was recalled? Why? I guess there is a DVD part of this forum......

I wouldn't say we abuse these coupons, just buying them for ourself is not abuse. But I see your point.....

And as for hurting Circuit City, I use more of these coupons at Circuit City than at Best Buy.

Before anyone asks: Circuit City's company policy is to accept all competitor coupons.

Hmm...I hope this is not the case. But if you have a color copier then you can just make a bunch of copies. I don't think the employees see too many of these coupons so don't know it is a fake. As long as they scan they are okay with it.

Actually when they were in the magazines I would take a magazine to their store and copy it on one of those all in one printers. he he.
