Best theater package for ~$300-$400
I'm looking for a:
-Receiver/amplifier
-Speaker package
-Powered subwoofer
If you have any recommendations to systems already packaged together, or individual components, post away.

DVD Talk Limited Edition
Walmart has a Pioneer Set-Up for about $290.
I think Circuit City has an Onkyo 6.1 setup for a little more than $400, but it would be well worth it.
Get individual components though. Do not get a receiver/DVD player in one.
Actually, onecall.com has the Onkyo 6.1 set-up....

deleted Onecall has always been great too. They will pricematch anything and ship very quick. I think it took 2-3 days if that to get my receiver and Speakers.

also read some of the other post in the forum by seaching.
DJ_longfellow is right on with his recomendation. Both of these systems have wood front speakers that are really 2-ways. Both have good receivers that can be used with upgraded speakers later.
But referrals are against the rules

Here's another idea:
Speakers: Cerwin Vega 5.1 setup $159.99 at Buy.com
-- Although CV has evidently had a reputation in the past for producing speakers that are just .... loud, I've heard good things about this speaker package. Looks like they're really making an effort to break into the entry-level audiophile speaker market. Whatever that means. In any event, the speakers are apparently a very good value. Haven't heard them myself.
Receiver: Refurbished Panasonic SA-HE200 for $199.88 at J&R
-- This is a fantastic deal on a very good receiver, as long as you're not put off by "refurbished" [I'm not!]. Great bang for the buck. Lots of power and features.

Thanks for the advice. I'm looking into all of the products listed.
I also just saw this as CC, http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...qp=0&oid=69841 .
Its a Sony Home Theater in a Box. Obviously its worse than the Onkyo setup, but perhaps adding a more powerful 10" subwoofer would add the extra kick in bass I want.
