Super Millionaire phone quiz

Anyone try the super millionaire phone quiz yet? They're pretty hard and I'm sure there are a ton of questions. I got to question 3 today. Next time I should quickly write the answers down because it's hella hard to put things in order without visual aid.

The quiz is open from 7pm-3am EST. Ending 3/4 (I think). 1-800-999-7878. Maybe we can list a whole bunch of the questions in this thread today to compare notes and see if the same questions come up. Here's what I got today:

Question 1:
Place the locations in geographical order from east to west
1)Everglades
2) La Brea Tar Pits
3) Mississippi River
4) Grand Canyon
answer: 1,3,4,2

Question 2:
Arrange the following books in the order that they were published from earliest to last
1) Silent Spring
2) Who Moved My Cheese?
3) (don't remember)
4) (don't remember)
I pressed 1,4,3,2 and got it right

Question 3:
Place the following anatomical features in order from the toes up.
1) Appendix
2) Retina
3) Tibia
4) Mandible
I got this wrong but it should be 3,1,4,2

I only got to the second question... apparently I don't know squat about the parts of an upright acoustic guitar.

You have to enter select a tape date which puts you in a contestant pool for that day. You then leave your name and phone number on a recording. Then they randomly pick people from the pool of contestants for that date and call you back between 9-12 EST on a specified day, usually 2 days before the tape date. They won't leave a message or call back, if you're not there they pick somebody else. They keep going until they have 10 contestants and 2 alternates and they fly them out to NYC to be on the show.

1 & 3 were easy. No way I would have gotten 2.

I hate that the phone lines are only open in the evening. I always forget about it.

It's hard to go 5/5 by guessing. If a monkey pushed buttons for all five questions the odds of making it through are 7,962,624 to 1, which is (4*3*2*1)^5

By the way, don't think too long about any of those questions, since you actually don't get to SEE the options (unless you write it down quickly), and you only get TEN seconds to input your answers...

Here were my questions from the other night, oh and you definitely need a pen and paper when you call or you will make it 10 times harder on yourself:

Question 1 (before I grabbed paper/pen):
Arrange these words to form a group from blah blah ( i can't remember the rest of the question)

Nation
Liberation
Army
?
I forget the fourth choice and the order, but I go this one right.

Question 2:
Arrange these cities according to geographical distance from San Francisco, closest to farthest.
1 Rome
2 NYC
3 Seattle
4 Tokyo
Answer: 3, 2, 4, 1

Question 3:
Arrange these authors according to birthdate (earliest to latest):
1 Daniele Steele
2 Sylvia Plath
3 Bronte (I think Emily)
4 Agatha Christie

I missed this, but it should be 3,4,2,1. I thought that Sylvia Plath was born earlier.

ok, they have changed this up a bit from last time. i just called and was going to answer the ?'s for today but they said i am already entered for the series. i guess that means that only once per "revival" depending on how long each one goes. so if you answer all 5 correctly then you are set for now.

Blew it on question 5 today; dang so close!

Here were my questions:

1. Arrange these sounds in order from loudes to quietest

1) whisper
2) normal traffic
3) thunder
4) light traffic
Answer: 3,2,4,1

2. Arrange these USDA grades of beef from highest to lowest

1) prime
2) standard
3) commercial
4) select
Answer: 1,4,2,3

3. Arrange these television slogans in the order they debuted (earliest to most recent)

1) Good to the Last Drop
2) You deserve a break today
3) What can brown do for you
4) Yo quiero taco bell
Answer: 1,2,4,3

4. List the songs by date they appeared on the Billboard Top 40 (earliest to most recent)

1) Don't Worry Be Happy
2) Drops of Jupiter
3) Don't You (Forget About Me)
4) Slide
Answer: 3, 1, 4, 2

5. Arrange these books in order of publication date starting with the most recent.

1) The Corrections
2) The Mammoth Hunters
3) The Pelican Brief
4) ????

Answer: I put 2,1,3,4 which was wrong. Of the three I listed the order goes 1(2002), 3(1992), 2(1985), not sure what the fourth was.

A pat on the back to anyone who got 5 of 5. This is tough! Maybe tomorrow will be the day.

I blew the first question today:

Put the following in order from first step to last:
1) rinse
2) wash
3) pre-soak
4) spin
I put 3,2,1,4. I'm not sure why that's wrong.

Question 1: Put these in the order they were available to the public, earliest to most recent (or something like that...)

4) Beanie Babies

(Answer: 2, 1, 3, 4)

I got this right.

Question 2: Put these decoration styles in order from earliest to most recent:
1) Colonial
2) Art Nuveau (sp?)
3) High Tech
4) Greek

I got this one wrong.

Arrrgh! I blew question five today even though I knew the answer. Put the following cities where the following sitcoms take place from east to west:

1) Family Ties
2) Family Matters
3) Frasier
4) Friends

I knew it was 4,1,2,3 but I mistyped 4,2,1,3 because they both started with family and I read my notes too quickly.

11 more chances.

Yes -- they *have* changed the rules, and I give that big thumbs down. I got all five in my second attempt (althought the questions are much harder than last time), picked Saturday's tape date, and didn't get picked. I'd like to try again.

Hopefully, if they pick it up beyond this week they'll let folks come back and try again.
