Everwood on The WB

Is anyone going to watch this new TV series starring Treat Williams on the WB? What the buzz about on this show?

You must not watch the WB!

I've seen more previews for the premiere of Everwood than I've seen for returning fav's Smallville, Gilmore Girls, Angel, and 7th Heaven combined. (Well 7th Heaven isn't a fav, but its the networks top show, so I threw it in there.)

Yeah other than a few shows such as Smallville I rarely watch the WB and since everything is reruns right now I haven't been watching the channel at all. Does it look good at all?

The title of the show makes me laugh. I wonder if that was a name Phizer rejected for Viagra?

Anyone watch "Everwood"? (9/16)

It's almost over and I like it so far, but I missed the first few minutes... so how did his wife die?

I like the acting and the characters are getting fleshed out early and I think I'm reacting to the characters the ways that the writers' want me too. I'm sympathetic for the father, as mad as the son and as confused and scared as the little girl.

Good pilot... I hope the series is just a good.

This is funny...
Spoiler:
Dr. Brown's nurse is the mother of the "Town-Doctor" ...

and she's dating the bus driver!

I was going to watch it, but a battle for the TV took place and I lost.

I'll be catching it on the WB's "EasyView" on Sunday....does anyone know if they'll be showing the 70 minute version of chopping it down to 60 mins?

I watched it and thought it was pretty good. Had no idea Greg Berlanti (Dawson's Creek) was involved w/ this show (he is a writer).

Treat Williams is a good choice for the lead and the supporting cast seems good as well.

Goldberg74, to answer your question,
Spoiler:
his wife died in an auto accident on a slippery road.

BTW, is this the first year that the WB started airing shows in HD?

I thought it was extremely predictable. It was well acted, but I think the writing was a little too sentimental and touching.

I have to give them credit for broadcasting in Widescreen.

TiVo seems to think the reair will only be an hour.

I tried watching this...but my Channel 4's sound was dubbed over the WB....I couldn't stand it...so I turned it to Third Watch and watched the season finale for the second time. The first ten minutes didn't interest me anyway...but I might give it another try and watch the entire episode if I catch it again.

I'm in the middle of watching it now. I guess us Pacific Coast people are used to watching TV shows last. What's with the guy narrating? How did Treat Williams grow a beard so fast?

I have to give them credit for broadcasting in Widescreen. Now do more shows this way!

Well if they are going to do a city Doctor series in rural
small town it has to be as good as Northern Exposure was.

Its seems to be missing maybe one/two good solid key
actor(s). Sort of like Philly was missng one this last season.
Anyways...It needed another storyline tied into the show.

I would rather have watched Angel instead to be honest.

The Beard

The time shift is 8 months between when his wife dies and the move to everwood. This makes his growing a beard less of a feat.

Northern Exposure meets Providence. Interesting how they got a couple of the cast members from Glory Days.

Well, while I think this show has potential, I don't think it's fair to say it's a cross between Gilmore Girls and Ed (what most critics have been saying). While it's premise IS a cross between the two, I didn't think the show held the fast-paced dialogue of GG or the comedy of Ed. Ironically, it felt more like a drama that WANTED to be a comedy. I wasn't sure what to think.

I think the hardest thing was that I didn't think there was much chemistry between the characters--unlike Loreli and Rori or Ed and Carol. But I'll give it a few more episodes anyway.

Who were the cast members? I only noticed Emily VanCamp.

I thought it was a slower version of "Gilmore Girls". Then again, "Gilmore Girls" is a fairly fast-paced show, they do talk quickly.

It was still nice, though. I was suprised about some of the content...isn't this "family" programming? It's right after 7th Heaven, and the son calls his dad a "dick". I'm not really offended, but pretty suprised.

I'll watch next week. It's either this, or wait for "girls club". Yeecch.

I think it really pegs the father and son relationship. Most father and sons do not get along. When they said Ephram was just like his dad and that is why they do not get along, it reminded me of my dad and I we are just alike and do not get along.

Maybe the censors missed the son calling the dad a "dick"?

I gave it a watch to see Treat Williams. A little too sentimental for me, and I rolled my eyes at the "Providence" gimmick. (Don't watch that show, but know about it.) Don't think I'll make it regular viewing, as there's just much too much competing for my time.

(That scene with the son washing his sheets made the father look rather dense.)

well, i thought this show was terrific... it's easily on my list of new shows to follow... i thought it had great dialogue like Gilmore Girls but was much more sentimental and overly sweet...but i was in the mood for this kind of family drama/comedy and I enjoy the characters and look forward to seeing them again in the future... hope the show does well, cause i am thrilled with it....

Everwood - 9/23

Thoughts people? Very "Providence"-like episode, which is kind of eerie, since the main characters are both doctors working for free/cheap, both have the spirit of a dead person talking to them, and both trying to patch up things among the family. And the little girl....you might as well as just replace her with Ruthie from "7th Heaven".

Also, I noticed there was no preview for next week's episode. Odd, they usually run a promo right before the credits.

Still, it was better than the American Idol concert. That's another thread, of course. I'll stick around a few more weeks to see if this show doesn't end up imtating all these different shows.

BTW, does anybody know the song that played at the end of the show? It's very familiar, one of those older songs that the soft rock stations play all the time. Can anbody tell me the name and title? TIA.

Finally got a chance to watch this. The battle for timeslots forced me to wait until now (had the same problem with the premiere). I have to be honest and say that I really enjoyed this episode. It could very easily be a cheesy preachy show, but the character interaction is quite realistic without pushing it over the top like many shows would do. I intend to keep watching.
