This has got to be one of the biggest no-brainers in the history of the universe. Die Hard just can't compare to The Killer or even Hard-Boiled, A Better Tommorrow or Bullet in the Head. Maybe Face/Off or MI:2.

I'm a HUGE foreign movie fan, bigger than most & Die Hard ABSOLUTELY rivals those classic Woo action movies. In the context of cinema, Die Hard is simple one of the greatest action movies ever made. It's action scenes pretty much reinvented American action movies, & in terms of influence, the movie made Bruce Willis one of the biggest stars in the world, (yes, so did Woo w/ Fat, I'm aware of that). Die Hard is FULL of classic movie moments, perhaps more so than The Killer & also has some of the most memorable lines of any action movie perhaps ever.
My point is, the 2 movies are ABSOLUTELY comparable & both in the same league IMO. Definitely not a no-brainer.
I honestly can't choose. I love both movies & think both are 2 of the greatest action movies of all-time. I actually like The Killer more but I think that Die Hard is the better pure action movie so my vote goes to Die Hard.

I'd have to go with Die Hard. I love The Killer, but it gets rather absurdly sentimental in many of the scenes dealing with the blind girl (and that AWFUL SONG!), whereas Die Hard is lean, mean and cheese-free. Now if it were Die Hard vs. Hard Boiled, I'd have a tougher choice to make.
I agree, though, the "HK snob" factor will factor heavily in many people's opinions. I love Woo, but I think Die Hard is just about the perfect modern action movie even if it was made by Americans.

They're both at the top of the genre. I'm not sure that I can say that one is "better" than the other..
But I do tend to watch "The Killer" more often than "Die Hard", so I guess I'll have to go with Woo on this one.

Die Hard, hands down. Now if it was Hard Boiled in that poll instead of The Killer, I would've voted differently. Hard Boiled is the finest action movie I've ever seen. You can't beat a 30-minute shootout in a hospital.

As an all-out fun action ride, that would have to be Die Hard.
For a more emotional, operatic tour de force of action, that would be The Killer.
Had to vote for No. 3

I have to go the Killer as it is the 2nd best film ever, and Die Hard isn't at No. 1.
The story in the Killer is miles better than Die Hard... I like DH, don't get me wrong, but The Killer, hands down a better film.....

Have you seen Die Hard? McClane is a completely different character at the end of the movie. He starts off as an average, broken down cop. By being put into an extraordinary circumstance he has to take on the reluctant hero role, through all the scenes with him using the walkie talkie the audience get's a great deal of insight into his character, he is not the typical "Arnold" action hero w/ no flaws. Die Hard has tremendous character development.

Gah, I love them both too much. If it were Die Hard vs. Hardboiled, I would vote Die Hard. But as it is, these two are probably my favorite action movies of all time. They're both equal in my eyes.
