Netflix weakness

I wanted to rent the new anamorphic Planet of the Apes. Guess what? It appears netflix only has the old version. Same with Spartacus. They have the inferior studio version but no Criterion... or so it appears from their pictures. It looks to me like they have inferior versions of many films which have had updates and /or new transfers. Is there any online rental service that does a better job of keeping their offerings updated?

Unfortunately, Netflix is hit and miss on "updated" discs. They have the new "There's Something About Mary" disc, but they don't have the new "Fargo", "Babe" or "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" SEs. Most of the other online sources are about the same, -hit and miss. This is one of those things that Blockbuster is a bit better at, -they tend to have more of the "updated" packages than any of my other sources...

You could always try to request the title. May or may not work.

Nor do they have the foreign cuts of Brazil (Criterion) and Leon, The Professional.

Netflix also has many gaps in terms of indie and foreign films. I tried requesting some titles but it did no good.
