Why I will not be buying MY FAIR LADY-SPECIAL EDITION

Don"t get me wrong, I love MY FAIR LADY and own the first dvd release, But my problem is with the aspect ratio. SPARTACUS and LAWRENCE OF ARABIA were both restored and have the correct aspect of 2:20 on dvd. But MY FAIR LADY still mantains a ratio of about 2:35 on dvd. We should expect 2:20 for this SUPER-PANAVISION 70 production. I believe this dvd comes from 35mm elements. Too bad.

This really seems rather counterproductive. You are cutting off your nose to spite your face. The new SE is superior to any prior video release. Your reason for denying yourself the viewing pleasure is trivial.

I won't be buying because the current release is anamorphic, the PQ is more than acceptable on my 65" RPTV and I'm sick and tired of studios double dipping. No sale here.

I will get it because I don't have the current copy, and I want it.

What are the differences (extras wise) between the two releases anyway? I hadn't heard much about the new version but noticed BB had it on sale this week...

While I agree the DVD could be better but what incentive does the studio have to make improvements if no one buys the new release. However I don't anticipate a better release until HD DVD becomes available. The video improvements and extras are reason enough for me to double dip with this title. Also selling my old copy for more than I paid helps too.
