CyberHome 300?

Saw this at Sam's Club yesterday....is it any good? Is it native region-free? What does it do or what doesn't it do?

Any articles or reviews?

Thanks if you can help~

You can make it region-free with a remote key sequence.

It's a cheapie for sure, mine cost $30. But it has worked really well since Thanksgiving. It plays anything you throw at it although I believe it does have the PAL anamorphic downconversion problem if you don't have a 16x9 set or one capable of anamorphic squeeze.

No problems at all other than the tray opening being pretty loud and the layout of the remote sucking. I moved its codes to a universal remote so that isn't a problem.

I saw three stacks of these nice players at my local Sears in Riverside. They are on sale for $34.

While the 300 can be made region free and does play PAL, I don't think this model can play anamorphic PAL discs without distortion (squeezing) the picture.

I have the Cyberhome 500 model and it does perfect PAL to NTSC conversion, with no distortion or squeeze. So does my Cyberhome 712 portable.

I want to thank Steve Phillips for sending me instructions on making my Cyberhome 712 region-free, but once I got to the proper menu I found it could not be changed - it is "1", period.

Tried it again over the weekend and it worked fine. I don't know what I did wrong the other time, but anyone with Cyberhome 712 - don't listen to me, do it.
