Will any studio release Mae West movies on DVD??!!
I know that I never get many replies to this theme (!!) but at the risk of being called a crashing bore on the subject, are there any plans afoot to re-release any of the great diva Mae West's classic early movies, such as She Done Him Wrong and my particular favourite I'm No Angel both of these titles also featured Cary Grant who of course is much more poular than Miss West!

Universal has the rights to these but I haven't heard anything about a DVD release. Image licensed the rights to a number of Mae West films a few years ago but they have expired and are now back with Universal. I was only able to pick up She Done Him Wrong before they went OOP, regretably.
Universal also has the rights to many of WC Fields' films. I Would love to see It's a Gift on DVD!

Universal has been announcing new releases of old gems almost weekly - Abbott & Costello, Marx Brothers, Francis the Talking Mule, etc. - so hopefully it's just a matter of time before Mae gets the green light.

Is that the movie where her maid says 'I always knew you were a one man woman' and Mae responds, 'yes, one at a time'. I think it was the one with Cary Grant. She had some great lines.
This is on DVD.

Was on DVD. It's been out of print for some time now.
I've been long hoping that Criterion would release a few of Mae West's Paramount films now held by Universal. They've released other early Paramount titles such as THE BANK DICK and TROUBLE IN PARADISE. They just don't seem like the kind of thing Universal is going to get around to any time soon.

It seems a pity that currently only Sextette, her far from perfect last movie, is all that can be seen on DVD of this great lady. On March 9th Fox is to release Myra Breckenridge (Ironically as part of a Raquel Welch series of movies , as Mae thought that Raquel was the pretender to her throne!!), the first DVD outing of this cult movie from 1970, and although I'm looking forward to this release it really is the first early movies which capture her at her best.
