American Idol - Season 3 - Audition Recaps

2/2/04

So we get to see some more of the contestants that made it through to the next round from all of the initial audition sites.

I'm at the point where if I see someone with a big loud voice, I just cringe because most of them still don't know what to do with it yet.

And Edgar was back again!

Enjoyed all the rejection tirades.

The guy who did the Right Said Fred song (I'm a Model) was disturbing in his performance/pornformance as he did it just to support his girlfriend who did make it.

Good episode. A lot more content than the other episodes they've been showing. It's nice to see some more faces in preparation for the next round.

This one was better than most of the early audition shows. I felt that this season, they focused so much on the horrible singers, that they barely showed us the good singers who made it through. Usually by this point, I already have some early favorites in mind but I felt I hardly knew any of the semi-finalists.

So it was nice to finally see some more of these good people before the semi-finals start.

Last year, I think I remember them showing Ruben during the audition shows, but I don't remember if I ever saw Clay. Did they show him during his first audition?

Oh, yes. They spent a lot of time showing him. "I can't believe that voice is coming from you, dawg."

Clay had a horrible look (hair was greasy and slicked back on the sides). Nowadays, it's not greasy, and it sort of sticks out on the sides.

I finally watched an episode (waiting for BFOF). I still don't quite see the appeal. Does it get better when the people who made it start to actually compete (like next week)?

Of course you don't see the appeal, you missed all the rejects! They had five shows this time, where were you?

The 2nd round of cuts is the worst part of the show from what I remember. There are a lot of mediocre people left, so when thy bomb it's bad but not comically bad. After they get it down to the good singers it gets better, but probably 80% of the songs are sappy ballads.

if anyone still has their tivo of this episode, can anyone confirm that they placed a black circle area the chest area of one of the contestants. I think her name was something Hudson and she was wearing this black sweater - she was an African American women who sang real well. It was towards the end of the show. I thought they put a circle there because her dress was showing too much or it could have been a logo? Can anyone confirm this or am I seeing things.
I think in last night's episode she was in what looked like a silver spacesuit outfit.

You know, I said I would not watch past the horribly funny auditions and yet here I am still watching. Damn me.
