The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou --- Wes Anderson

'Royal' family reuniting for 'Life Aquatic'
June 05, 2003
Hollywoodreporter.com

Writer-director Wes Anderson, a cult favorite whose 2001 effort "The Royal Tenenbaums" proved a crossover success, is set to head out to sea for his next project, "The Life Aquatic." Ending months of speculation, Anderson and Touchstone Pictures have revealed details of the upcoming film that reunites the helmer with several of his "Royal" cast members, including Bill Murray, Owen Wilson and Anjelica Huston. The project also will feature several actors new to working with the director, including Jeff Goldblum, Peter Stormare and Bud Cort. Wally Wolodarsky also is tentatively attached to join the cast, pending his availability. Penned by Anderson and Noah Baumbach, "Aquatic" tells the story of oceanographer Steve Zissou and his crew and their misadventures in deep-sea exploration.

--Great to hear Wes' new project is underway! I'm especially glad to see Jeff Goldblum's in the cast, he seems a perfect fit for Anderson's style.

IMHO, Jeff Goldblum was brilliant in Igby Goes Down. I can't wait to see him in a Wes Anderson picture.

Can't wait for this one. Goldblum is just the PERFECT actor for a Wes Anderson movie.

Peter "Pancakes" Stormare in a Wes Anderson flick... will the wonders never cease? That's an intriguing combination to me to say the least.

I'm surprised Owen isn't co-writing.

I agree about Goldblum - he seems to be a perfect choice.

Dipak Pallana always reminds me of Goldblum. I hope they have a scene together.

As always, I am really looking forward to a new wes anderson picture.

Stormare, Goldblum & Cort are most excellent casting choices.

I would have to agree with everything that has been said about Goldblum, I am definitely excited about it, I am however a little disappointed that Luke isn't involved

This sounds great. For me Wes Anderson and P.T. Anderson are the two best young directors around. They amaze me.

And from what I've read, Bill Murray is STARRING this time, rather than a supporting role like "Royal." Sounds great. Looking forward to this.

I like Wes Anderson and the Wilsons, so i'm looking forward to it.

Bill Murray in a starring role this time would be GREAT!! He is one of my favorites and most of his recent stuff has been small supporting roles.

The Life Aquatic

Has anyone heard of a tentative release date for this. IMDB has it in "post production" and I didn't spot it in the 2004 release list.

It's Wes Anderson's new flick where Bill Murray is an oceanographer.
Different.
I am champing at the bit now.

What's the word?

Well it's...Wes Anderson so I'm quite optimistic. I've heard he's employed Henry Selick (or at least his animation crew) for stop motion segements in the film.

nonetheless, sounds very interesting...can't wait to see it.

Really looking forward to this... anyway, comingsoon.net lists the release date as December 2004. Hopefully they stick to that.
