The Amityville Horror DVD
With the new remake on the horizon, will the original 1979 version of The Amityville Horror DVD be re-released as an SE? Is there anything to add, like deleted scenes or documentaries?
As it is, the current DVD is bare-bones - with the exception of a kick-ass trailer.

A question about the series....i liked the first two, are those the only good ones or are any of the later ones worth getting as well? I notice that R2 UK has many of them on dvd.

Here's some links in regards to the remake. There isn't much known just yet, however.

AMITYVILLE 3-D was fun in theatres but when seen flat and panned and scanned on video it leaves something to be desired.
There are some widescreen discs in other regions for this film, but they all crop the film to 1:78 to 1. The OAR is definitely 2:35 to 1 widescreen.
I'd love to see a R1 anamorphic 2:35 to 1 DVD release, and they could easily include a field sequential 3-D version on the disc along with the obligatory flattened out version.

1) when George returns from the boathouse in the dead of night, comes in through the back, sits and lights a cigarette. Then -“rrrraaahhh” – a cat pops up at the window
2) when Kathy goes to her daughter Missy’s room in the dead of night, to find George standing over her bed with the girl in pieces and an axe in his hands. Then George runs at Kathy with the axe raised over his head…(it was just a dream, or a premonition…?)
3) George digging the graves for his family and nailing the windows shut so they can’t escape. This is scary because this can happen.
4) The pig monster appearing at the window as viewed by George from outside. Cheezy yet creepy.

TOO FUNNY - NOT SCARY

TRUE THAT WAS A GOOD ONE.
But saying this movie is as Scary as the Exorcist as some of the posters I've seen, that's a joke to me.
Just hope the new version will be so scary and it gives you nightmares for weeks to come.

Ah, looks like somebody needs an Amityville Horror re-view. It has elements that are scarier than most people realize. Most people only remember the dripping walls and ooze in the toilet, and Rod Steiger ranting and raving.

I remember most of it, just not what is described above. Guess I'll have to watch it again. I just wish it could have been a better movie. I guess I just hyped myself up over the movie and then was dissappointed when I watched it.

I think I was about 16 when I saw it - U KNow back when HBO was good. Just wish it could have been more the book than something "based" on it.
See what build up can do sometimes?
