Fright Night Special Edition?
I'm just curious, would there be much interest out there for a Special Edition version of "Fright Night", or are fans of the movie content with the original DVD release? Also, if there would be a Special Edition, what special features would you want to see on it? Thanks in advance.

Knowing how Columbia's recently gone totally backwards, I'd expect to see this reissued with only the pan and scan version!

My apologies for not having a question mark. Mods, feel free to add one, as I tried and am unable to. Other than that, none of you really answered my question. Are fans of this movie ok with the version that is already in existence, or, like me, would you like to see them do a new release with some behind the scenes stuff, or a commentary track, or even a new transfer/better audio or something like that?

most people are thrilled to see DVDs of movies that offer new transfers, better sound, lots of extras, etc. i'm sure Fright Night would be no different.
either way, i doubt you're going to find a lot of people on this board that would argue against DVD extras or inprovements in transfer and sound.

I'm all for a release of any film with improved picture and sound.
Features would be a bonus (of course).
The present release is already anamorphic, though. Why fix what isn't broken?

I'd like to see a Special Edition -- if only to see a Stephen Geoffrey's filmography. I hear he's taken on some, er... hard roles, since his FRIGHT NIGHT days. He really bends over backwards for his craft, Evil Ed does.
Not that there's anything wrong with that, mind you...
A commentary track and a retrospective would be nice, too. A great little movie, FRIGHT NIGHT -- one that has justifiably gathered a bit of a cult following since its initial release.
So yes: bring on a SE, I say.

Lord you got me all excited thinking one had been announced. Darn it.
Seeing as I practically just burst with happiness thinking that one was on the way, I think you can say yes, I would be very interested. It deserves a better disc than the one that is out now.

I enjoyed the movie. I'm content with the current release, as I don't watch it very often.
Personally, my top hopes for an SE right now would have to go to Videodrome.

And don't forget that Amanda Bearse (who plays Willliam Ragsdale's girlfriend) is a lesbian. Coupled with Stephen Geoffreys' subsequent career, and the strangely ****-erotic subtext of the film (a guy more interested in spying on his male neighbour than making out with his girlfriend), this makes 'Fright Night' a very perverse film!
