I really enjoyed this show up UNTIL they went into outerspace on the Searcher with Dr. Goodfellow and Hawk. It was much more interesting on Earth IMO. And poor Twiki was never the same after Mel Blanc was replaced and there was no more Dr. Theopolis.

Well, then you're in luck... the article claims that this will be just the first season. No Dr. Goodfellow. No Hawk.
Think they'll release this in a giant Twiki head -- ala Battlestar Galactica? Maybe in a Dr. Theo case that we can hang around our necks?
(I better shut up in case Universal marketing is listening...)

Yep. Two seasons. Well, 1-1/2.
Before opening this thread I was trying to think of a way they could come up with a worse concept than the Cylon head...
You think they'll clean up the prints this time? Or just run 'em like they did with BG.
I'm in. Bede bede bede.

guess i'm in the minority as i felt the show improved greatly with the change in format.
the first season is full of light-weight, star wars-lite , space opera fantasy - high concepts like Vegas In Space; not one, but two episodes guest starring Gary Coleman; and frequent dogfight scenes.
Hensley as Ardala was mildly diverting, as was Gray in that tight spandex, but the show really just cruised on the charm of Gerard.
the 'Searcher' episodes had more of a Star Trek vibe as they came into contact with different races, etc.
i'll pick up the first season for nostalgia, but i would be picking up the second season to actually enjoy some decent sci-fi fantasy.

Two seasons?? Time really stands still when you're a kid. Yeah, I'm looking forward to this, hopefully the price will be right. Maybe pull a Lord of the Rings and make a gift set with Princess Ardala and Col. Wilma bookends?

4.... Planet Of The Slave Girls - Part 2 (9/27/1979)
5.... Vegas In Space (10/4/1979)
6.... The Plot To Kill A City - Part 1 (10/11/1979)
7.... The Plot To Kill A City - Part 2 (10/18/1979)
8.... Return of the Fighting 69th (10/25/1979)
9.... Unchained Woman (11/1/1979)
10.. Planet Of The Amazon Women (11/8/1979)
11.. Cosmic Wiz Kid (11/22/1979)
12.. Escape From Wedded Bliss (11/29/1979)
13.. Cruise Ship To The Stars (12/27/1979)
14.. Space Vampire (1/31/1980)
15.. Happy Birthday, Buck (1/10/1980)
16.. A Blast For Buck (1/17/1980)
17.. Ardala Returns (1/24/1980)
18.. Twiki Is Missing (1/31/1980)
19.. Olympiad (2/7/1980)
20.. A Dream Of Jennifer (2/14/1980)
21.. Space Rockers (2/21/1980)

23.. Flight Of The War Witch - Part 1 (3/27/1980)
24.. Flight Of The War Witch - Part 2 (4/3/1980)
The Second Season
25.. Time Of The Hawk - Part 1(1/15/1981)
26.. Time Of The Hawk - Part 2 (1/15/1981)
27.. Journey To Oasis - Part 1 (1/22/1981)

35.. The Hand Of The Goral (3/26/1981)
36.. Testimony Of A Traitor (4/9/1981)
37.. The Dorian Secret (4/16/1981)
Given that there's only 1/2 of a "second" season, it doesn't look good for the last 13 episodes. But, with the 10 Galactica 1980 episodes, it could be packaged as "Buck Rogers Returns to 1980" or something like that.

Wait a second . . . does this mean that Universial is getting their head out of their ass as far as TV shows go? Do I dare hold out hope for The A-Team or Knight Rider at this point?
Bah - who cares about that! This is great news. I was always more of a Galactica fan than a Buck fan, but I'm going to buy this hands down. Hell, I'd even buy it for the Twiki head!

Cool news on this finally coming to DVD.
Edit to add: Dennis Haysbert (President Palmer from 24) plays the helmsman for several second season episodes.

9.... Unchained Woman (11/1/1979) - stars Jamie Lee Curtis
13.. Cruise Ship To The Stars (12/27/1979) - former Playboy Playmate Dorothy Stratten as 'the perfect woman'
To paraphrase Obey The D, these episodes DIDN'T scare the hell out of me.....

So, when they did the season 2 reboot, they lost the bedebedebede and the voice.
Then people bitched about *that*. They figured they were screwed either way, so they brought Mel back.

Was it explained why they left Earth to be on the Searcher? I don't remember.
Also, wasn't the Searcher the same model as the ship in 2001? Whenever I see the 2001 ship, I think of Buck Rogers.
One great thing with Buck Rogers that haunts Galactica is that noone keeps harping about it being a Star Wars rip-off.

Also, some of the science in these episodes was crazy. The whole "Golden Man" episode is a good case in point. A race who age backwards. Well, then, how does the female give birth to a baby the size of a fully-grown adult? How did Searcher get "stuck" to an asteroid?
I think some of the other complaints had to do with the noticeable drop in the show's budget. The sets for Searcher (particularly the bridge) were pretty uninspring and just looked like a collection of left-overs from other productions. The costumes were also a bit drab and uninteresting, and what was with Wilma's elf shoes? At least they didn't make her wear that stewardess hat that appears in some of the PR stills!
Still, I wish this was a complete set rather than just the first season. I'm a bit surprised Universal aren't doing it this way. If season 1 sells well, would they dare risk releasing season 2? Why not just release the whole thing at one time and make a bit more money?
Of course, if they use single-sided discs, they could easily make season 2 a four-disc set.
