What's the deal with amazons shipping lately?
i've placed 3 orders for cd's in the past few weeks... all 3 of them said they usually ship within 24 hours, but then once i checked out the estimated ship date was like 10 days later...
most of the orders went out and I got them before the estimated ship date... but still, why does it take a week to ship out my item that is in stock?

Free shipping doesn't always go out right away. That's why it's free. Although lately mine have been shipping pretty quick and only taking about 2 days to get here which is just great for free shipping.

I know on Amazon.ca when I select the free shipping, it does not actually ship until about 3 days later on average. I usually receive my order within a week or so which is not a problem with me since I usually do not need the merchandise right away.
I don't mind waiting a few extra days for being cheap.

Are you kidding me? I placed an order for an NGPC console and then 10 minutes later changed my mind (the item was listed to ship in 24 hours). After just a couple of minutes it was too late to cancel the freaking order -- give me a break.
They shipped it out quickly enough (UPS is now the default???), and UPS says they delivered it last Thursday, but it sure as hell never made it to my house. No note on the door, nothing. Sure hope they go back to priority mail or something with decent service.
Just emailed them. Talk about stupid.

I use the free shipping option whenever I can when I shop at Amazon. It usually take a few days for them to ship the item even if the item's page said it will be shipped in 24 hours. I don't know why that is so, but I also think it has something to do with picking the free shipping option. Probably not on their priority queue for processing the item if free shipping option is picked.

I think with free shipping, they shift large chunks of items between warehouses in order to bring a large number of orders closer to a given city of destination, therefore making the individual shipping of the items cheaper.
