Question about region coding and formats
I'm sure most of us know the different regions for DVD's (i.e. R1-North America, etc...), but could someone post a complete list with which type of format (i.e. R1-North America-NTSC, etc...)? If one goes to type in regon coding in the the search engine, there is no one list I found (I could be wrong) with that information. Mainly asking for all of us who are new to the international game who might not be used to the PAL speedup. I appologize in advance if this list was put together previously, but I could not locate one. Thanks.

...as for PAL "everywhere else" - not true: there are still some countries - besides France, of course! - that use SECAM for broadcast TV (see list below)... (note, however, that French DVDs (and, before those, French LDs) are and have always been PAL, not SECAM)
...and here is a complete list of NTSC and PAL (& SECAM) broadcast standards worldwide... (note that the broadcast system for Hong Kong is PAL, not NTSC - however, every HK DVD I've ever seen is indeed NTSC)
...confusing, ain't it...!?!...

Fandango,
Thank you, but I am still wanting to match up the format type (NTSC, PAL) with the different regions, not which region is which.

Hendrik, you're splitting hairs with the info about SECAM. SECAM is not a DVD standard, and we're only talking about DVDs here. Countries that use SECAM for broadcast use PAL for home video.

...Mexico - although arguably a part of North America - is Region 4, not R1...
...in FRANCE, at least afaik, VCRs and prerecorded videos are indeed SECAM, not PAL (entirely logical, since PAL & SECAM are basically incompatible - so how could a French person who wants to record a program off French (!SECAM!) TV do that using a PAL VCR...?...)
...back to you...

...not forgetting the occasional French, or German, or UK R0 DVD that is encoded in NTSC...
...and not forgetting the many, indeed very many US DVDs (from Criterion, from image, from various small independent companies) that are encoded as R0/NTSC...
...and not forgetting the RUSCICO DVDs from Russia, which are available either as R0/PAL or as R0/NTSC...
