More "Six Feet Under" Season 4 news
Surprised no one posted this here yet. A friend just sent me this link from USAToday. Sounds interesting!
Change afoot on 'Six Feet Under'
William Keck, USA TODAY
When Six Feet Under returns to HBO on June 6, the Fisher clan will be thrown into "life-altering experiences and sexual experimentation," promises executive producer Alan Poul. "Our intention is to return to the lighter, unpredictable tone of the first two seasons."
Rachel Griffith's Brenda will have two suitors this season: her neighbor (Justin Theroux) and Peter Krause's widower, Nate.
Expect familiar faces in guest roles:
• Mena Suvari, who worked with show creator Alan Ball in the movie American Beauty, joins the cast in the second episode as an art-school friend of Claire (Lauren Ambrose). "Mena's character is a provocative performance artist and a strong feminist who doesn't care what anyone thinks," Poul says.
• Ben Foster returns as Claire's bisexual boyfriend, Russell.
• Claire's former boyfriend Gabriel (Eric Balfour) may not be as dead as viewers were led to believe, though this is unconfirmed by the producers.
•Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle bad guy Justin Theroux returns as musician Joe, who will strike up a serious romance with Brenda (Rachel Griffiths). Poul says to expect a love triangle with Nate (Peter Krause) as the season evolves.
Poul says David (Michael C. Hall) and Keith (Mathew St. Patrick) will try to save their rocky relationship by pursuing separate life paths. For Keith, that means bodyguarding a Britney Spears-type pop princess, played by Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Michelle Trachtenberg. In the third episode, the pop star makes a "guest appearance" on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, with DeGeneres playing herself.
Ruth Fisher (Frances Conroy) will face a more complicated life with the return of sister Sarah (Patricia Clarkson) and mischievous friend Bettina (Kathy Bates). She also will have to deal with new husband George (James Cromwell). She will "realize she might not know this man as well as she thought she did," Poul says.
As for the imaginative opening deaths, Poul says one will involve an interaction with a sex toy.

Oh god, this does not sound good. The third season was so much better than the first 2, we need to go forward not backwards. I am happy to see Michelle Trachtenberg, although I can't figure out the popularity of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Sorry, but the first 2 seasons were much better than the 3rd. The 3rd didn't offer anything interesting or groundbreaking for me. So let's compromise and have the best of the 3 seasons... in the 4th season!

I enjoyed the first two, and stopped watching the show halfway through the 3rd. It was just becoming tedious for me. It was all doom and gloom heh. I can only take so much doom and gloom . I like to be entertained, not depressed! I might have to give season 4 shot though.

And what the heck...of course it's "doom and gloom", it's a show about a funeral home.

I thought season 3 was a jaw dropping mind****...and I mean that in a good way. It was emotional and surreal. Highly entertaining and depressing but I loved every minute of it. I like the first two seasons as well and am excited to see what Season 4 has in store.

The first two seasons were about a funeral home and wern't doom and gloom in my opinion. I just get tired of shows that the entire premise seems to be how screwed up each person of the tv family can get. Sorry, doesn't interest me. My family is screwed up enough, I don't need to be reminded of it from a tv show

I echo the call for boxsets. My GF hasn't seen seasons 2 and 3 -- how is she supposed to watch S4 with me?!
I managed to watch S2 and S3 on HBO inDemand, but it took forever, at like 4 episodes a month.

Spoiler:
Or if you don't like that, you can try this:
www.sixfeetunderfan.com
they have word-for-word transcripts for every episode - and they read surprisingly well.
