Whats with The One Eyed ORC General?
I am sure he is supposed to be heavily wounded, but it looks more like he suffers from whatever disease John Merrick (The Elephant Man) was afflicted by. Does PJ ever make any mention of this anywhere?
Also, I thought, at least according to Gimli, that Orcs were mindless. The general and his lieutenant (the guy with the skull on his head) seemed reasonably intelligent, as did The main Orc in the tower near Cirith Ungol (near Shelob) Did what Gimli state amount to really no more than, forgive me for resurrecting this old, tired and completely baseless issue, a racist comment?

Goldberg74 - I swear, that was the first thing I thought of when I saw that character. I started laughing out loud, but I quickly hushed up when I noticed no one else was laughing.

His voice sounded a lot like that of Dr. Claw or Ole Anderson. For the unfamiliar with wrestling, Anderson did the voices of the horrid Shockmaster and Black Scorpion characters in WCW.

Oh and yes I thought the diseased orc didn't fit. I liked the other Uruk Hai from Fellowship better. Much more menacing.

It wasn't until my second viewing that I decided that that wasn't the case.

My original thought about this guy was that he was an embodiment of Sauron somehow. I've only seen the movie once, but I seem to remember a shot that tracked past his hand, and it looked like it had some (or all) fingers missing. It was very brief, but the shot was definitely deliberate, so it had to have meant something.

I still think that these versions of orcs are the original tortured Elves that were broken long ago. Only a few remain and they are the leaders of the Orcs.
