Paramount's planning to release it; they just haven't said when.

I hope it's soon. I'd definitely buy all five seasons.

Wasn't there talk about a Fall 2004 release of the first season?

May as well bump this thread so nobody accuses me of not searching

The theme song thread in TV Talk got Taxi to pop into my head so I went and looked to find out that it's coming out on October 12th. I'm getting it no matter what, BUT does anybody know anything about possible extras? I'm really hoping this isn't barebones since reruns can still be easily found on cable. Almost the entire cast launched very successful careers with this show and if Jim Brooks can do commentaries for The Simpsons, he surely could do the same for Taxi. I'd be surprised if there were commentaries, but I'd at least like to see some cast interviews. With only 5 seasons this show deserves some extra effort (no pun intended ). 3 discs for 22 episodes doesn't sound very promising

I'm looking forward to getting this also, but with all the recent talk of shows being edited on DVD (syndication versions), I hope we get the whole show.

Not to worry. Paramount always does an excellent job with their tv releases unlike Liar's Gate.

It hasn't hit theaters yet! I haven't seen anyone so excited to want to own a movie with Queen Latifah and Jimmy Fallon

I kid I kid.

Has anyone heard whether or not this contains any extra features or is it strictly episodes only?

Well, it IS Paramount.

I'll buy the second season-on. It didn't hit its stride until Christopher Lloyd came aboard.

I can't wait to buy all 5 seasons, starting with Season 1 on Tuesday. I love this show, but I've only seen it in syndication, so I can't wait to finally see the episodes uncut. Extra features would have been nice, but it's not like I was expecting them.

What about:

Batman
Wild Wild West
Addams Family
Leave It To Beaver
Kolchak The Night Stalker
Friday The 13th The Series
Bob Newhart Show (original)

Those are just a few absolute classics that have yet to see the light of day on DVD.

Been looking forward to Taxi on DVD for a long time. Received shipping confirmation on my order from Amazon today. Hopefully I will have it in my hands by Tuesday.

Are there any reviews of Taxi besides the "Something old, something new" review?

I've been waiting for this one as I think it's one of the top 3 funniest sitcoms ever, but it's a shame that they didn't give it any of the TLC it deserves. The cast seems to have such fond memories of the show, and it doesn't seem like it would have taken too much work (or money) to get some participation from them. The writers would also be great to hear from on a commentary track.

I hope future sets have a lot more in the way of extras. This one is really disappointing.

Any word of if/when seasons 4 and 5 will ever get released on DVD. I'm finishing up S3 and can recall a bunch of great shows that I haven't seen included in the first 3 seasons. Hope that it won't take forever.
