Hey Ma VS Hey Ya

Okay, for my decision, I like the beat of Hey Ma better [much much cuter] and hate the lyrics of both, both hate the ones on Hey Ya more because the ones in Hey Ma make more sense and essentialy the song could be really sweet and cute..[which I like]

So I like Hey Ma better, what about you all?

Alright, I pride myself on being on top of things in the music world, but I've never heard of "Hey Ma." What the hell is it?

Haven't heard Hey Ma before but I'm sure it came out before Hey Ya.
Let's just say "Salt-Shaker" would put both of these to shame.

I vote for Hey Ya because it's hip hop but not the usual run of the mill hip hop...if that makes any sense.

It's not hiphop.

With that said, I would probably go with Hey Ya if it wasn't played to death.

Yes, Hey Ma is by Camron, it has a really cute beat, I think it is based on an old 70's or 80's song...and it is cute when the girl sings

I don't know, I can't like Hey Ya, even though the lyrics make no sense, I know what is saying is pretty much

"Love is worth nothing, I don't know how to love, could care less how, but I would rather have a few hours of freak dancing and some cheap sex with girls at clubs"

By comparison, Hey Ma is a much better message = )

Andre 3000 sings
If what they say is 'nothing is forever,'
Then what makes
Then what makes
Then what makes
Then what makes
Then what makes (What makes? What makes?)
Love the exception?
So why oh, why oh
Why oh, why oh, why oh
Are we so in denial
When we know we're not happy here?
Guess you were wrong about that one, eh? It is about a relationship gone south.

"Hey Ya!" is a pop song. Not a hip-hop song.

Yeah, but then he tells a bunch of Lucy Liu's and babydolls to shake it like a polaroid picture...and to be on their baddest behavior for him, because he is their neighbor

Um, the freedom after a break up? I think you are taking a rather shallow view of the song because that's what you expect.

He even makes one final plea: "Ya'll don't want to hear me / You just want to dance," before giving in and just entreating them to dance their asses off. S'all you can really do now, right?

But nevermind defeding the lyrical content of "Hey Ya!" I'll just post the lyrics to "Hey Ma."

Yeah...
Come on...
Hey lady...

[Cam'Ron and Women]
Hey ma, WHATS UP, lets slide, ALL RIGHT, all right
And we gon' get it on tonight
You smoke, I SMOKE, I drink, ME TOO, well good
Cause we gon' get it high tonight
Got drops, GOT COUPS, got Trucks, GOT JEEPS, all right
Cause we gon' take a ride tonight
So ma, WHATS UP, let's slide, ALL RIGHT, all right
And we gon' get it on tonight

[Juelz Santana]
Yo, Now I was downtown clubbin', ladies night
Seen shorty she was crazy right
And I approach baby like
"Ma, What's your age and type?"
She looked at me and said, "You's a baby, rite?"
I told her, I'm 18 and live a crazy life
Plus I'll tell you what the 80's like
And I know what the ladies like
Need a man that's polite, listens and takes advice
I could be all three, plus I can lay the pipe
Come with me come stay the night
She looked at me laughin', like "Boy your game is tight"
I'm laughin' back like, "Sho' you're right"
Get in the Car
And don't touch nothin' Sit in the car
Let discuss Somethin'
Either we lovin' or I'll see you tommorow
Now we speeding up the Westside
Hand creepin' up her left side, I'm ready to do it
Ready to bone, ready for dome
55th exit, damn, damn, already we home
Now let's get it on

Hey ma, WHATS UP, lets slide, ALL RIGHT, all right
And we gon' get it on tonight
You smoke, I SMOKE, I drink, ME TOO, well good
Cause we gon' get it high tonight
Got drops, GOT COUPS, got trucks, GOT JEEPS, all right
Cause we gon' take a ride tonight
So ma, WHATS UP, let's slide, ALL RIGHT, all right
And we gon' get it on tonight

[Cam'Ron]
Now That I got a girl, my Ex wanna holla and spit
Told me to acknowledge her quick
She like Cam stop frontin'
On that Dave Hollister Tip
Come over lets swallow and sip
I'm like mom that's it
I promise you dick, usually have a problem with chicks (why)
They all say I'm rotten and rich
But not her, booby's real
High heel dooby feel, plus got them Gucci nails, uh
You a cutie still, and this my down girl too
Ain't no groupie deal
We left the movies with Uzies, Suzuki wheels,
To the Jacuzzi, I tell you my booby's real
I mean she do be winning, luey spinnin
Go to the crib she got the Gucci linen'
I see booby grinning
She looked and said "Cam, I know that you be sinning"
Naw, I'm a changed man, look at the range maim
I got a whole new game plan
Looked and said "That's nothing but game Cam"
She was right; she was up in the Range man
Droped her off at the L, now I'm flippin' the cell
That's right I had to call up L
[Cam And Juelz Together]
You L (what up?) I hit (what else) plus dome (say word)
And we got it on tonight

Hey ma, WHATS UP, lets slide, ALL RIGHT, all right
And we gon' get it on tonight
You smoke, I SMOKE, I drink, ME TOO, well good
Cause we gon' get it high tonight
Got drops, GOT COUPS, got Trucks, GOT JEEPS, all right
Cause we gon' take a ride tonight
So ma, WHATS UP, let's slide, ALL RIGHT, all right
And we gon' get it on tonight
You're right. He has a MUCH more positive message than Andre 3000. However you want to read it.

-edit-

And after listening to the song on my roommate's computer, I don't know that the beat is cuter. Just more chill. "Hey Ya!" has a much more propulsive thump, it isn't really asking you to hang. It is asking you to get down.

Yeah, exactly, Hey Ya is like a lot of girls dancing in the club wildly and being very intense, but Hey Ma is like just slow and mellow...like a haze of illusion and disorientation of what results...

I don't exactly like the lyrics of either, but Hey Ma just makes a lot more sense than Hey Ya..

Then again..Hey Ya makes more sense than Milkshake..and is better too

Still, I have the instrumentals to both [Ma and Ya]..and I don't know..just something cute about the Hey Ma beat
